I always thought it was because Maya talked about him during training in a way that Pearl misinterpreted.

Sure, Maya and Phoenix could be close friends, or they could be more so than that. They never give you anything definite, at least not thus far... It's totally unfair, and completely left to speculation. So who here thinks one way or the other?

Well, it's a good thing to know that you're not the only one asking that question. Perhaps because Maya's often hanging out with Phoenix during case investigations, and she thinks that since they're together for a long time, maybe the two are turning into a couple.
