I was trying to figure this out myself. I just replayed PW1 not long ago, and the only explanation I could think of was that Von Karma was so famous that he was in demand in both Germany and America. Edgeworth said over and over that Von Karma taught him "everything he knows," so he must've been there physically to teach him, and not to mention Franziska (they both picked up parts of his hand gestures, that's gotta prove something). BUT.. Edgeworth went back to America to actually start prosecuting in T&T (in the flashback when he was 20).. and Franziska was prosecuting in Germany for 5 years before JFA came around.. So where was Manfred during all this?
Also, not to sound even more confusing, but in the Japanese version, where did they say Von Karma came from? Was it still Germany? Because well... they changed the story's location from Japan to America, who's to say they may not have changed the other country as well? I thought I heard from somewhere that in the Japanese version, Von Karma was actually from America..
If that's the case, no wonder Edgey's so confused.. he doesn't know what accent he should have! 
teehee.. I dunno.. I got nothing.. anyone know for sure?

Still no clue about Edgeworth's accent though... except maybe Japanese people thought Americans have English accents because they speak English?
... Errr.. wait.. when did they do the English voice acting for the game? When the game FIRST came out or when it was localized? o_o...

Manfred prosecuting in Germany while Miles and Franziska were growing up would be considered time away from his job as a prosecutor in America, and it was stated that the only time he ever took off was 6 months immediately following DL-6. Miles and Fran must have grown quickly.
As far as the voices are concerned, the clips in question were recorded for the Japanese release of T&T, and were subsequently used in the American version. I doubt that the developers would have had Edgeworth have an English accent because he studied under the "American" von Karma; the only possible explanation is that he picked it up while

Did they say he took 6 months vacation from prosecuting in America or just in general? I've been wondering about that since I replayed 1-4, and if it's the latter, it would explain the contradiction. If it's the former, we just might have something to add to the contradictions page?

Yeah, Karma should have only been in germany 6 months, but it says over and over how Franzika was "born and raised in germany".
Wtf...? They never mention a mother, and she calls Edgy "little brother" so I assumed he was raised with her, right?
Actually, does Franny even have a mother figure? Manfred doesn't seem the husbandly type, mabye he reproduced via budding?

If you actually watched the film, you'd release it was a Irish film. On on the subject of Irish people, we mostly use the single middle finger, but also use the two fingers as well.
