So, shoot me if it's been answered before.

When Phoenix establishes that Acro couldn't look out the window himself AND drop the bust, he establishes that Acro never needed to look out the window at all. The wooden box was placed so precisely that, based on its size, when someone went to pick it up, their head would be positioned directly below the window, under the bust's fallpath.

Here's my question. How in the world was Acro, who couldn't look out the window with the bust at the ready, supposed to know that anyone was there at all? Was this all just a completely random hit or miss?

My theory is that the pepper in the case was more than a snide shot at his target, but that it was used in one of 2 ways.
1) The box was open when Russel got there, and the closing of the lid indicated to Acro that someone was there. Even this however is flawed because there is no way Acro could know if the person was going to pick up the box or just leave it.
2) There was pepper on the box, and based on the way you would have to pick it up, the person lifting it would probably sneeze with their face that close to it, cueing Acro to drop the bust.

Any thoughts? Since the game seems to have failed to elaborate on this one small plot hole that bothered me profusely.

1) If the box was open Russel would have just taken the pepper and left. It was the pepper that was incriminating to him and Regina, not the box.

2) Possible but it's never mentioned.

We do know that Acro locked the box specifically so that "Regina" would have to attempt to lift the box in order to get what she came for. Maybe he figured that the box was so heavy anyone trying to lift it would have to make a sound, like a grunt or something. Or maybe the rattle of the handles as it was picked up. It was late at night with no one else around, so even a small sound would have carried.

:objection:
Phoenix claims it's unlikely that Acro would have heard a huge THUMP from his room! If your case stands you would have to say that Nick is somewhat dim! :knock-knock:

Hmm...yes, I think that is exactly what I'll say. :edgy:

Actually I'm not sure which line you're referring to.

I could be wrong, but didn't someone state in their testimony that the weather was a little crazy? If there was so much wind and snow, hearing anything from the third story window would've been virtually impossible.

All these thoughts led me to believe that Money The Monkey had some involvement in this (and this is the reason I initially presented Money for the contradiction). I figured, if Money is strong enough to steal the bust, he could've held it while Acro watched out the window for someone to show. Then I realized, he would be able to tell if it was Regina or not, so perhaps it was the other way: Acro held the bust and Money would watch for someone. Seems unlikely, but possible, right? However, I was apparently wrong.

There's got to be something more to it that was lost in translation or something. Or maybe the footsteps/lift-grunt theories are as close to correct as we'll get. :payne:

Money might have alerted Acro when someone picked up the box. Possibly. :yuusaku:

It was probably just the sound of Russel straining to lift up the box.
