I'm on my third JFA playthrough and something that's stuck out to me each time is that the question of whether Doctor Grey actually drugged Mimi Miney is never resolved.

Now, there's a lot of reasons to explain that Mimi wasn't drugged. She's got a loopy enough personality that her own mistake caused the deaths of 14 patients. Further, Doctor Grey wouldn't have *had* to kill her because he needed her alive to avoid taking responsibility for the deaths. Finally, Mimi's the type of person who doesn't like taking responsibility for her mistakes. She was so determined to avoid dealing with the death of her sister that she even faked her own death to get away from it. Blaming Doctor Grey for the accident fits with her personality.

Still, Doctor Grey is a pretty intense guy. He had already purchased a pistol off the black market mere days before the channeling. Perhaps he was expecting Mimi to exact revenge on him for being drugged? Further, he's not a practical person. In his rage at dealing with Mimi, he might have had her drugged to move the focus of the investigation off his clinic.

What do you guys think? :grey:

What was bugging me is how she told him about Maya. Did she have his house bugged? How did she find out that he was looking for a medium? She said she hates the occult so it's not like she was actually taking college classes for it.

As for the gun, where does it say he got it on the black market? I'm playing through it right now but I haven't gotten very far in it. He also had to worry about the families of those 14 patients, so he may have carried it just as general protection.

Hmm. I don't know. Weird case.

I think they mention where he bought the gun during Gumshoe's testimony. Gumshoe presents both the fruit knife and the gun and then gives you some information about them. One thing that bothers me is that Gumshoe says that the victim "bought the gun two days before the murder just for the channeling". Phoenix comments about Grey possibly having an idea that something like that was going to happen, but what disappoints me is that its never fully explained. That bothered me throughout the whole case.

Easily answerable qustions.

1) "Did she have his house bugged?" Mimi stated during questioning on the first day that Dr. Grey asked her if he knew of any spirit mediums. Dr. Grey must have been one shrewed guy because to just think of dealing with the occult is not something people do on a day-to-day basis. It's just not logical.

2) "How did she find out that he was looking for a medium?" Grey came to her and asked, as said by Mimi on the first day of investigation while Phoenix was questioning her. Like I said, Grey is a shrewed man to simply think of dealing with the occult.

3) "She said she hates the occult so it's not like she hwas actually taking college classes for it." I'm assuming the police department did a background check on her and confirmed that Mimi was, in fact, studying the occult at the college. Also, she didn't want to be suspected of not being Ini, so she must have taken some occult studies to clear any doubt about her real identity, even if she did loathe everything about the occult.

What bugs me is that after asking Mimi about what she does, she'll say that she was the one who introduced Dr. Grey to Kurain Village and Maya in the first place. Yet, if you ask about the victim afterward, she clearly denies that she met Dr. Grey at all and that she only knew him when she was a patient. :eh?: OMGPLOTHOLEDUETOBADSCRIPTWRITING

Oh so the occult thing was apart of her being Ini? OK, then that makes sense. Otherwise, why spend your second life doing something you hate? Must be a self-punishment kind of thing.

At the end she says that she did all of it so that people would believe she's Ini. She also mentions how much she hates the occult and all of the other things she had to study.

Nah, it's for cover. Because Ini like, probably was like in to the like, occult because like, she was like, taking a class at the like, college, and she's like staying at the like, Kurain Manor, because there's like, so much to like, study!
