This is what I think:

The father's surname could've been "Hawthorne", and he changed the kids' names to reflect that. However, Mia and Maya and Pearl etc., were all still named "Fey" since they remained with the maternal oriented families.

Yeah, that's what I think, too. Thus my quip about Phoenix taking the Fey name if he marries into the family.

True enough. Phoenix wouldn't keep the name "Wright" if he married into their clan. He above all else knows the importance of it. Not ONLY the initial Fey name, but also the fact that Maya is the Master.

Mia would be devastated. She does so love her 'right, Wright' puns... :mia:
She'd probably never allow the marriage. xD

lol

What's she gonna do? Haunt him?

Alright, in all honesty, I think that she's one of the few people in the game who doesn't make a "Wright" pun.

Now, if Larry BUTZ married Maya, that'd be a different story!

Mia, no Wright puns? I think you should play case 1-1 again. Or check out the script, which is after all complete. Search for 'Wright' and check whether there is a 'right,' before it. I'm sure you won't come up empty.

Anyway, I guess Phoenix could still call himself Wright-Fey. That might even open up new avenues of puns...

Um... Larry? What does he have to do with anything? :udgy:

..... you don't remember Mia's name for Larry in 1-1???

Also, again, Mia never made up a Wright PUN, maybe just fancy wording, but no puns. I mean, she tends to call him Phoenix, unlike many other characters.

Hmm... in my book playing on homonyms still counts as a pun.

And about Larry, I kinda couldn't see you were referring to case 1-1 there, too. So excuse me while I go and sulk in a corner in shame... :sadshoe:

Hey, it's no real problem, ese... but I am a little surprised ye couldn't tell, since I said that Mia would be upset if Larry married Maya, and Mia and Larry only met once, according to the canon...

Thing is, though, Iris is never referred to by either the patronymic Hawthorne or the matronymic Fey. She's just Iris of Hazakura Temple, even in court.

I don't know why they used "nun" when that's clearly not what they are. If they had to translate "miko", they could have at least used "shrine worker". But back on topic... I've never seen a shrine worker do that. Does Kurain have some really strict rules?

I consider the use of "nun" and "shrine worker" in THAT instance to be somewhat similar... not fully similar, but sort've.

Heh heh heh. Phoenix Fey. Alliteration!

But also, I'm afraid those ages are too young. For one thing, if the sisters were that young they'd have no idea of their background and therefore no resentment. Heck, they wouldn't even know about each other. Plus, in the game it says that Mr. Hawthorne didn't leave until after the DL-6 incident and the Fey fall from grace (more alliteration!). Therefore Dahlia and Iris would have been 8.

I'm afraid... it's indisputable.

According to canon, when Misty was named as The Master, over Morgan, the father of the 2 children took them and left Kurain.

Now, this is ALSO assuming... that as soon as Misty was named Master, she ran away. Because of this, it would be around 17 years... since Morgan says that it was "17 years ago that the Master left the village" and "The master is officially considered "dead" once they are gone for 20 years". Also, did I mention she says it in JFA?

Incorrect I'm afraid. It was not the naming of Misty Master (damn!) that caused the father to leave. It is stated twice, once by Bikini and once by Dahlia herself that Mr. Hawthorne didn't leave until the DL-6 incident. Which, according to the timeline that we understand in the first game makes it 2001, when Dahlia and Iris were 8.

Now of course, there is the problem that no one in the third game seems to agree on how long ago DL-6 was. Maya says at one point that she hasn't seen her mother in 15 years (which can't be right), another time someone says it's 17 years ago (which is closer) and then at one point Edgeworth says it's 20 years ago (which is ridiculous). So um... yeah. :yuusaku:

The Hawthorne sisters were born in 1993.

DL-6 took place on December 28th, 2001.

3-5 occured in early February, 2019.

I'll let you guys do the math.

As I thought, in 3-5 it has been just over 17 years since DL-6. Maya and Edgeworth were just... wrong. And also, those years confirm that Dahlia and Iris were 8 (as I said) at the time of DL-6 and thus 8 when they left Kurain. The end.

Well, as far as Maya and Edgeworth... If you haven't seen someone in, say, 36 days, you usually just say it's been a month. Close enough.

I assume, then, that you could explain JFA's comment? On how Misty was missing for 17 years? It'd be over 18 by 3-5.

And to continue on further points, how Misty could've taught Maya about the Kurain writings at age... 1...?

Remember: You have to explain Morgan Fey's comments, Maya's, Edgeworth's, DL-6.... MANY aspects.

What do you think is going to be more accurate, the vague comments from some of the characters saying something happened "about" so and so years ago, or the actual police records specifically saying DL-6 was on December 28th, 2001?

I'd say the incredibly revenge-obsessed umbrella-haired failure to the title.

Also, I KNOW this sounds dumb, but there is a point to this: Can someone state a summary of what exactly the DL-6 case was... BEFORE 1-4's "revelation"? I mean, what people thought. Up until Yanni Yogi's Fiance's fate?

You have the year wrong. Phoenix is 25 in 2017, the year of the second game. He was 24 in 2016, the first game. This means that he was born in 1992. (All of this is on the timeline by the way.)

There isn't a good answer to that Wrestle. (I think this may have been discussed in th Cough-ups section, or contradiction section?) Cause see, before we learn about DL-6 and whenever it is discussed after 1-4 it's in the context of Misty "failing" at summoning Gregory. Supposedly, Gregory had told her that Yanni Yogi had killed him. But then Yogi was found innocent and Misty was disgraced and the case remained open. BUT the problem with this is what is said about the case in 1-4. It is claimed that Hammond got Yogi a verdict of temporary insanity, thus making him not responsible for his actions. But this is still saying that he killed Gregory! To my mind, this means that the case should have been closed. After all, the murderer had been found right? And then Yogi's fiance supposedly committed suicide because of this temporary insanity thing. Yet despite all this, Misty is disgraced as having made a mistake. Somehow, everyone in the PW universe got it into their head that "Temporary Insanity" is the same as "Not Guilty" meaning that there was a different murderer... So, yeah. I don't know what they thought.
