I recall him leaving being mentioned as more than 8 years ago, more like around 20 years ago. Pearl is not any where around 20 years old during T&T.

And that was more or less my point. Genetics don't have anything to do with it (which makes the way Dahlia turned out that much more sad.)

This reminds me of the nature vs. nurture debate. (genetic influenced traits vs. environmentally influenced traits if you have no idea what I'm talking about.) Actually this is like the same thing.
I'll side with nurture on this one. As I previously stated, Iris grew up in a wonderful environment with Sister Bikini. Dahlia grew up in a hostile environment, turning her cold and evil. I believe people develop similar traits due to the environment they're in. If they spend a lot of time with a certain family member, they will act somewhat similar. In other words, I'm agreeing with Franzise.
All genetics does is prove that the two are twin sisters and how they look. That's about it.

, I didn't mean to suggest that Iris isn't nice (she really is)! I was just trying to figure out a reason why Pearl is so sweet and the only thing I could think of was that maybe her father was nice (there is no way she could get her personality from Morgan, through either nature or nurture I believe). Maybe she got her personality from Maya, since they are super close.

All accounts from the games seem to suggest that Morgan was a doting if overprotective mother to young Pearl. Morgan is a horrible person, but she was also exceptional at hiding it and would never have allowed Pearl to see that side of her. All Pearl ever talks about in reference to Morgan in 2-2 is how much her mother loves her and even in 3-5 her love for her mother (and Pearl's belief in Morgan's love for her) was what caused Pearl to unknowingly cooperate in Morgan's plan. The effect on Pearl is a big part of what makes Morgan's actions so much more terrible. It crushed her for a reason. Plus, we know that there are other mediums in Kurain Village (some, if not all, of which have to be a part of Maya's and Pearl's extended family because the Kurain power is inherited biologically) because they're mentioned and I imagine that Pearl would have had contact with them as well at the very least through training if not more. Plus, you factor in Pearl's closeness to Maya and I don't think you need Pearl's father to account for her sweetness.
Pearl was raised in loving and rather sheltered surroundings (not that different from how Iris was raised by Bikini except that Bikini's sweetness isn't a facade).
