It made me chuckle, at least (no...not actually...rather an internal laugh) when I started through case 2 again, and you're presented Masque de Mask's calling card to show his authenticity, and Maya says that 'I guess there's always imitators when your that good.'
Then Pearl says 'wouldn't it be great if you had your own imitators, Mr. Nick?'

I thought that this was a cool illusion to case 3, which is very subtle and easy to miss.

Nothing groundbreaking, but something cool.

There are others, but any thoughts (whatever can be had on this), or catches on a 2nd playthrough that allude to other cases that add a sense of deeper irony to the script?

I don't know if it was intended as such, but...

Spoiler: Case 4 spoiler
When Terry asked for water, and Diego said he could have some of his coffee, I instinctively knew he was about to poison himself, because I remembered that Diego himself had been poisoned via coffee. So I suspected it even before the necklace showed itself, just because of that.

They really put a lot of thought into this, didn't they? I didn't notice any of this stuff before...

@von-tesm: I remembered that after you said it, but I still totally missed it. Pretty funny.

@Franziska von Karma: Wow.. I don't even remember him saying that. I really need to replay Trials and Tribulations!

I think, though they don't reaveal a whole bunch about the plot, the quality of a script is how much more in depth it is on the next replays

Spoiler:
But IRIS was the one who dated Phoenix most of the time.

Dahlia only met Phoenix a few times: ,When she game Phoenix the necklace, at the cafeteria to steal his pills, at the scene of the murder, and in court.

For the comment above mine, that really needs to be in spoiler tags as this topic isn't marked for spoilers.

On another note, I was surprised by the amount of foreshadowing in this game. There is always some, but I felt like there was more in this game. I liked it!

Spoiler: Case 2
When you present the newspaper clipping in case 2 to show the jewel was blue and not red, Godot says "I'm not much for talking about color, myself."

I could swear that somewhere in case 2, Maya thinks something Phoenix asks her about is silly, and wonders sarcastically if he thinks she's been replaced by her evil double Ayam. I may just be crazy.

I'm always struck by Phoenix's emphatic comment that poisoning and betrayal are the most unforgivable crimes.

Heres another nice connection between cases 2 and 3
Spoiler:
When Gumshoe brings in the "final evidence" in case 3 the bag its in is the same bag that mask deMasque was carrying in the publicity poster from case 2

Actually I noticed a reference with Godot when I played through again
Spoiler: 3-4/3-5
:trapcardcoffee: Appears to have learned prosecuting from :edgeworth: and often quotes things that were said in 3-4. For example, Edgeworth mentions his personal stachel as the safest place to put evidence, and Godot says the same thing about his pocket in 3-2. There are several quotes like these. I think this makes what :godot: says more clear.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it seemed like a pretty big reference to me...

I caught that on my second run-through too! I was shocked. x3

I also got a lot more out of 3-1 emotionally once I'd finished the game and really knew what Mia was fighting for.

And in 3-3...
Spoiler: whole game
did anyone else notice that once Godot caught onto the fact that Maggey wasn't the poisoner, he immediately became fiercely determined to catch Tigre instead? The coffee-poisoner... It even seemed like he acknowledged Phoenix a bit after he cornered Tigre (making up for protecting Dahlia...?).
...Of course, in 3-5 he's back to being grumpy at Phoenix, so maybe I was just imagining that...

Maya is overrated. That is all.

Spoiler: 3-4/3-5
That doesn't matter. Edgeworth knew of Armando and he didn't know the connection between Godot and Armando. Godot knew who Edgeworth was because of 3-4 and that was the last case he had ever seen so it is very likely he learned from Edgeworth

Yeah that foreshadowing things are pretty cool, that and the little references

-Pearls saying to Phoenix that:
"Maybe if you work hard you could get your copycats someday too!"
-When they start commenting about a temple in the mountains when talking about the Shichito.
-When Phoenix reveals that Godot can't see Red on a White background. Redd White.

[spoilers]
Because I will not open a new thread for this, I posting this here with spoilers:
-One from Justice for All, Phoenix thinks that Max should wake up and smells the coffee. I know that they could have made that without think about Godot, but when I saw that I couldn't help but to think about Diego waking up from smelling coffee.
-Another one of Justice for All, when you ask Maya something she says that we don't have enough information to build a case. Then Mia says the same and Phoenix notes that.
-One from Ace Attorney 1-2 or 1-4 when Grossberg say that Phoenix grew a lot, changed and that Mia would be proud of him. I don't know if he meant about Phoenix law experience/skills, but I THINK that they say that on purpose talking about his old crying self.[/spoilers]

-Now that I see Glen Elg images, he really looks a lot like Hobo Phoenix...

I don't think it was necessarily the last case he saw. Remember, there were six months between 3-4 and when he was poisoned; he was probably still taking cases in between, even if Mia wasn't.

:objection: It may not have been the last case he saw, but it was the case that made the biggest impression upon him. From that point forward, he was investigating :chinami: , which is how she got the opportunity to poison his coffee :godot: (and yes I did just want to use the objection thing. :redd: )

Oh, certainly. Some people don't realize there are six months there, so I just wanted to make sure. :butzthumbs:

Yes, I noticed the allusion to Case 3, and Phoenix talking about Dollie being an imposter. I didn't notice the part about Terry being poisoned with Diego's coffee. (good find) However, on my third or something playthrough of case 2, i find the passage:
phoenix: the problem here is the jewel's colour.
godot: i'm not much for discussing colour myself.
Sorry if it's been mentioned, I didn't read the whole thread yet.

Uhh... well.
Since this thread has just been massively necro'd (for information that has been brought up already, yes... >> <<)
I might as well point out something that shocked me when I caught on. In 3-2...
Spoiler: 3-2 with a hint of 2-2 in there as well
when you go back to the office to find that Pearl is not angry at you anymore, she has made you strawberry shortcake and starts making tea. Now think about that for a second. Green tea... and strawberry desserts. Sound familiar? :morgan: Looks like Pearls has learned some things from her mother! ...Now isn't that a scary thought.
