Spose' if you try hard enough you might be able to see something between them but I highly doubt Maya would go after her sisters' boyfriend even if she is dead.

Anyway, I... have mixed feelings about this couple. In terms of it actually being romantic, I find it a bit odd (though not as squicky as I find the idea of Godot and Mia!Maya making out. I just don't think they'd do that, even if Maya gave them permission... though I guess I'm alone in that). On the other hand, I really like the idea of him still being fiercely protective of her after(/if) he
I really only supported it couple-wise for the brief period in which I thought Phoenix x Maya was canonically platonic, and that's mostly because Maya has to get with someone and make little spirit medium babies, and I don't want her going to some jerk like either of Morgan's husbands. In that case I can quite easily see Godot offering to marry her in order to protect her--so still not romantic love.
I dunno, it makes sense in my head but I suppose it doesn't anywhere else.

I wouldn't let that get you down though. If written properly this pairing would be capable of serious angsty storytelling the readers gobble up.
And hey, this is the same fandom that pairs everyone with everybody else at least once, and Godot/Maya is far from behind the oddest of them all. I'm sorry but they actually some bits of canon storyline to go on, which is the least you can say about Gant/Von Karma *shudders*

I agree. Godot's treatment of Maya before, during, and after the events of 3-5 make it seem pretty obvious to me he didn't actually have her best interests at heart.
Not to mention... quite an age gap.
Though I guess I could see it in some kind of twisted fashion, where each of them is trying to be closer to Mia... A real psychological romance. But not fluffy bunnies or anything.

With all of that in mind, I wrote Where We Feast. It pretty much touches on all the reasons I think Godot/Maya could work.
I wrote More Like It, too. Yeah, that one was based on my thought that after 3-5, Diegodot would have a hard time finding himself again. He discarded his own indentity, right down to his name. That's not an easy state of mind to fix. The heavy metaphors and angst are supposed to show that he's barely sane. But I lost interest and didn't even finish the story, so!

Yeah, there's an awful lot of painful stuff for them to work through. Godot/Maya isn't an obvious pairing, really. It needs developed themes and it needs thinking about. But I got into AA in the first place because the characters can support that kind of deep thought (and still have their silly moments of throwing coffee and nitpicking ladder terminology).
On the bright side, Godot getting a better introduction to Pearl could make for a cute, fluffy short story?

Maybe it`s beacuase I`m not very into pairings involving Maya I can`t see her in a serious relationship with someone yet. I`m more into pairings like

but that`s just me.But anyway I wouldn`t think of a pairing between them cause Godot/Diego loves Mia not Maya, and his only interest in Maya was cause she was the sister of the woman he loved and when he knew about Mia`s death he kept his eyes on her to protect her and also that is not true cause like Godot says: "I wasn`t really protecting you... bla-bla".
