I've been looking for fanfics about Godot in the present instead of Diego in the past, not that I don't like them, its just that pretty much all the Miego fics I've read is of Diego before he was poisoned.

I'm sure they couldn't have been together before 3-4, judging by how Mia treated him. I agree with you, their relationship must have started after that case, when they were investigating Dahlia.
By the way, some time ago, I wrote this fic, with implied Diego/Mia in it. It's in Spanish, though xD.

In my defense, anyone could've acted like that when he woke up after like...5 years or so. I mean, you can guess he hid his true feelings for her, and just kind of broke down before going into his whole "Super-cool Godot mode". Yeah, I forgot to add his whole "smiling" philosophy.

Yes, I understand your point of view, but I still believe that he was a bit OOC. And staying IC is also one of the problems I have when I'm writing (apart from the lack of ideas >.>).
Oh, with AJ release I haven't seen too many Diego/Mia fics lately... we need more!
