I wish they'd made Dahlia's name Dolores Willow... But honestly, what's the chance they'd know about a fan translation, let alone take anything from it? Heck, Payne's attitude toward Mia is totally different in the screenshots than in the fan translation.

What's funny about Dahlia though, is that it still kinda works with Phoenix's pet name for Dolores, Dolly.

Umm... I have a feeling that they do know about the fan translation - either way, Dolores Willow is not a bad name - but even if Capcom was aware of it, it's logical that they don't use it. It has to do with copyright issues - even though the character is Capcom's, but the fan translation work/names are copyrighted by the person who created it. It's like saying (for example) Kishimoto owns the rights to the Naruto characters - and he holds the rights to tell someone to stop drawing them, but he has no rights to the drawings that had been created and he cannot distribute/print/use them without the artist's consent. So it's a little silly to say that Capcom should use the names that were used in the fan translation...

I've got a name idea but I think it honestly counts as a slight GS3 spoiler, given it is announced that it is coming stateside.

Spoiler:
:zenitora: Ash Wong. The Dragon/Tiger symbolism is really lost in the localization, so I think it's better to think in terms of what would be opposite a phoenix. In this case, phoenixes rise from ashes. Hence, ash. 'Wong' needs absolutely no explanation. For his nickname, 'Big Cash' or something cheesy like that. Stupid and punny nicknames are A-OK in a setting like this, I'd think. Besides, look at the guy's hair! Very ash-like if you ask me.

Actually it's only a girl's name, seeing as Artmeis was the GODDESS of the hunt in Greek. The on;y boy using it is Artemis Fowl, and his explanation is nonsense.

Oh, and he's fictional.

Well, let's have a crack..

Yuusaku + Mareka Clyde and Bonnie, referencing the famous robber duo. Plus, Yuusaku wants to be a famous thief, and Mareka is a thrill-seeking gal, so there's a bit of characterisation as well.

Aiga Art Baskerville. Posh-sounding name, and references a Sherlock Holmes story.

Uramidn Samara or Sadako. Hell, it's the first thing that comes to mind when you see her.

Zenitora Sidney Tigra.

Keiko Sad Anna Matronic.

Chef Sam Biguous. Sounds almost like ambiguous, which is what Karou seems to be on a daily basis concerning his tastes..

Igarashi Barry Birdseye. He's a fisherman, and he has an 'eye' for the ladies.

Ayame Cattleya. A nice flower to go alongside Dahlia.

Onamida Dirk Hardcheese.

EDIT: Javado Saul Beckett. Slight reference to the original Godot author. Plus, Saul is a name for badasses.

The sentence of "Artemis is mostly used by girls but it could be used as a boy's name" is talking about real life Yuusaku Of course Yuusaku is fictional, but that explanation isn't Gant

Onamida From what I heard, he's a bit of a crybaby, so I think something like 'Moe Ping'. Though that's unlikely, with Moe already being used.
Igarashi The best thing I've got (which isn't that good) is Pete O'File. Though not only is that disgusting, but the girls he watches are a suitable age.

I was thinking (I love trying new things) today about possible naems for the characters in TaT. Then, for Case 3-2, I had this great idea for the characters! But because of who they turn out to be, it'll have to be stuck in a spoiler bar. So don't read this unless you want spoilers for Case 3-2.

Spoiler: Case 3-2 Character Names
Shakespeare-Styled Names for Love, Tradegy and Crime!

:yuusaku: - Yuusaku Amasugi = Romano Telmah. His first name is a parody of Romeo, and his last name is Hamlet backwards.

:mareka: - Mareka Amasugi = Julie Telmah. Her first name is a parody of Juliet, and her last name is Hamlet backwards.

:aiga: - Aiga Hoshiidake = Iago Brutis. A play-on of Shakespeare's two most famous double-crossing backstabbers. Iago from Othello, and Brutis (Brutus) from Julius Ceaser.

Kamen Mask - Ma'sk The'ft. Say it slowly or with a Scottish accent, it sounds like Macbeth.

Kurobee Busujima - Julius Falstaff. Julius was killed by someone he thought was on his side, and Falstaff is one of Shakespeare's dumb characters. In other words, Kurobee was betrayed because he was an idiot. Hehe. >:)

It makes a lot of sense to me, from all the fanfiction I've read. Yuusaku and Mareka are considered to be the best couple, despite their differences. Aiga likes to quote old phrases, is a betrayer but also a touch of poetic justice and dream building to him; instead of Suvari and other old Japanese words, he could speak sometimes in that old English language Shakespeare is (in)famous for.

:aiga: - "Doth thou speak unto me, sir Wright? I will fight you until my eyelids no longer wag!"
:object: - "Then how about THIS!?"
:agia-shock: - "ACK! A touch, a touch, I do confess!"

But at least in this case, Romeo and Juliet live happily ever after.

So, think it's a good idea? :edgy:

They'd better not botch Aiga's name. I love that guy.

:aiga: Sir Henry III?

I've got nothing. That sounds a bit too regal for a detective. Even Aiga, although I wouldn't be surprised if he spruces up his own name by putting fancy titles in front of it. Toby's "Art Baskerville" has a ring to it, though. I like it.
