When you solve 3-2 (near the end), Mia says something like "This case is over..for the moment" and Phoenix thinks in blue "for the moment"?
Not sure what she meant by that? I know the cases of T&T are all sort of linked but still.
I guess Ron carried on being Mask*DeMasque as he knew he couldnt be tried again.
Maybe - it was a way of saying the legal system sucks, so in AJ they brought in the Jurist system. Double Jepoardy (sp?) was actually a real legal loophole (at least in US courts) until recently.

I believe she means that Ron could still be found guilty of another crime.

No...

Ron was tried as Mask*DeMasque in the first day and found Not Guilty because Luke pretended to be Mask*DeMasque and took on full responsibility for all 5 thefts. Then in the second day they show Luke was actually a murderer, and that Ron is Mask*DeMasque. However, Ron can't be punished for those thefts because he was found innocent of those charges the previous day and because of double jeopardy.

When Mia says the case if over for the moment, she means until Ron steals something again, because that would be a new charge which he can be charged with.

btw... Double Jeopardy is not a loophole, it still is part of the US Legal system (and several other legal systems), and it's part of the US Bill of Rights. (5th Amendment, to be exact.)

I've been confused by this whole thing actually...
Being Mask*DeMasque is not a crime.
You cannot be charged for being Mask*DeMasque... Right?
Ron should have had to undergo five trials, Right?
So, if he is innocent of stealing the urn (double jepordy) doesn't that mean he can still be tried for all the other heists?
Also, Double Jepordy is good because It prevents people from accusing someone they don't like over and over again so they keep having to hire a defense attorney and lose all their money. I doubt they'd ever just get rid of it. I wouldn't call it a loophole...

He was being tried for all five crimes in that one trial. Which is one of the least odd things about the games' laws.

What Salutation Here said. It's just easier to say, "Tried as Mask*DeMasque" than "Tried for stealing the 5 objects stolen by Mask*DeMasque".

My God, I'm all of a sudden jonesing to play 3-2 again.

But yeah, he can't be tried again, since he was tried for all five crimes at once. If he's caught for the crimes that he said he was comitting in the T&T credits, he can be tried again.

Thanks for the explanations. :) So Mia meant until Ron steals something again.. ahhhh.
I didnt know Double Jepoardy still existed - I had thought it was recently scrapped. (There was a film called Double Jepoardy wasnt there?)

In England, it was scrapped. And yes, there's a film called Double Jeopardy which completely misunderstands the way it actually works - the woman wants to kill a man who faked his death in a way that made her get convicted for the crime. But because she hadn't killed him, if she did then kill him she could still be tried for his murder. Also, if she were in a position to kill him, surely she was also in a position to just tell the police he was still alive, get herself a full acquittal and get him locked up without having to kill anyone.

Thanks for clearing all that up. It was just scrapped in England/UK, I see.
