Okay, this is probably just a crazy coincidence, but last night in my hotel room I was watching Coach Carter (movie with Samuel L Jackson) and he's doing drills, and he's comparing basketball to women. He says something along the lines of:

"And then there was Dahlia, my first love. ...that woman was EVIL. She used her little charms and convinced me to steal a bunch of brownies from the nearby church bake sale. Oh, she got off completely free. Me? I had to strap pillows to my ass for a month before I could sit down."

>.>

Yeah, it's probably just a crazy coincidence but I thought it was funny :P

The only thing Dahlia and "The Black Dahlia" have in common is the fact that they are females.

Spoiler:
The first one is a murderer, the second one is a murderee... kind of a tenuous relationship imo.

However, it is still one of many possible "references" available for the name.

Similar color to Dahlia.

Also, the list here amused me. http://www.clareflorist.co.uk/meanings.asp

According to them, the Dahlia flower signifies "Dignity; Elegance; Good taste; Instability". Hahaha.

Another site says: "In the language of the flowers, depending on which source you use, the dahlia means gratitude, dignity, pomp, instability and misrepresentation."

All of these things contribute to the fact that it's a good, fitting name. :)

I guess women named Dahlia are inherently evil.
