Cuz guessing is fun like that.

YES.

Aiga Someone said he should be Ivan Oliver Levine. I really liked that one, as it's a very good pun that closely matches the original, and as well, his middle name makes him even more pompous. Ivan also kinda sounds like Aiga.
Yuusaku Arthur Glover. Arthur just seems to fit this guy, in my opinion, and Glover, well, sound it out.
Mareka Mary Glover. Mary's close to Mareka.
Chinami I still like Dolores Willow.
Chef Jean-Pierre LaFrance. (I once had a professor named Jean-David Lafrance.)
Zenitora Tony "Tiger" Moran. Zennies are Capcom's currency, but I really wasn't sure how to translate Zennitora without it looking really weird (Zennitiger?). Tony is a typical mobster name, and Bugsy Moran was a famous mobster back in the prohibition days. His grandfather calls him Tonsy.
Image Maria AIRAM. In addition to being a parallelogram, like the Japanese name, the last name is made up of AI (artificial intelligence) and RAM (random access memory), both computer terms. Also, the fact that her last name is capitalized makes it seem more artificial.

Yuusaku Hrm....how abouit Alex uh.....Bailey? Alex is a gender ambiguous name, and I think so is bailey. Think a mroe feminie version of Adrian Andrews.
Zenitora Gan G. S. Teire with one of those makrs over the last e. Like Te-air. Obviously a Pun off of Gangster. For the record, people CAN have 2 middle names. JRRTolkien for example. PLus the french-esque last name goes well with the french resturant.
Javado I like Kaminogi really.
Godot Stay the same. Isn't it based off of an English play or something. Its only one word, pun works anywhere really
Chimani What are you talkin about? Her name IS That Bitch. I call her Thatty
Ayame Lets see here...OOO. Dolores Willow. Bit of a switch, & if you think about it, it makes sense.
Bikini should also stay the same. No reason to change it. Comes pre-translated,lol.

Godot Godot. Nothing else will do.
Javado Maxwell Beckett. Beckett for the playwright, Maxwell for the coffee!
Chinami I don't like Dolores for her first name, though Willow is a good last name for her. Hm... something elegant, though cold. Ariel, perhaps?
Mareka could be Maria.

Better give it a shot... *Brainstorming, brainstorming*

Yuusaku Joel Dulce - I like the name Joel, and Dulce means "candy" in Spanish.
Mareka Marika Dulce - Better keep something similar.
Chef Gordon Blau - Comes from Gordon Bleu, A French beef stuffed with ham and cheese. Blau is german for blue... But wait, he's pink...
:insert oka smilie here: Linus Flatley - Linus comes from Linux, Flatley is a Trojan horse.
Javado Javado Beckett
Godot Godot Goddamnit...ignore that second word I wrote.
:insert Yuuki smilie here: Ming - She looks pretty Asian, and Ming means "pure" by the way.
Ayame Naomi - means beauty.
Chimani Betty? *shot* I thought of Ugly Betty...
Uramidn Elizabeth Báthe - Elisabeth Bathory, enough said.

Maybe it's because I'm currently on a Clue kick, but I think Scarlet(t) would be a nice name for Chinami, because it brings to mind both the not-so-murderous and more docile (I assume, I've actually never read or seen it) Gone With the Wind character in additon to the murderous Clue character. Besides that, it's a nice name.

Chimani Jessica Belle, a pun on Jezebel. Phoenix can call her Jessie.

Ayame Angela or something maiden-ish. I thought Angela would sound like a nice contrast to Jezebel

Yuusaku Someone came up with Jamie Sweet in the old thread which I liked.

Mareka Marlene Sweet

For Onamida, someone came up with Terrence Connor which I liked. Ben Cryan from the fan translation sounds a bit too much of a translation without much effort. Someone also came up with Victor Conn which fits the pun thing more.

Javado Beckett Kaufmann. Eh.. I dunno...

I know the character page says "Amasugi" means "too sweet" in Japanese, but there is another meaning of "amai" which leans more toward "weak" or perhaps "naive", and I think that's the one the name is meant to be a pun of. ^_^; However, I don't have any idea what that would mean for creating an English name for the character... Yuusaku

For Kamen Mask, I kind of like "Masked Mask".

Zenitora I love the Tony "Tiger" somethingerether idea above. :D

Javado Also liking Maxwell something. I guess "Hauser" as a last name would be too obvious?

Chimani Helen A. Handbasket. :D I kid, I kid!

Aiga maybe Sherman Locksley... or if you want to go German, Ludwig Hahn. (Ludwig = "famous warrior", Hahn = "rooster; proud and pugnacious person") EDIT: On the other hand, "Hahn" isn't quite as long and obnoxious as "Hoshiidake", so I'm not sure about it anymore. :p

Igarashi Drawing a blank here. Grizzly Burns or somethin'?

Chef Francis (for gender androgynous first name) Fournier (meaning "baker").

Throwing around ideas for Takao Oka and Keiko Koike... was thinking maybe "Adam Imada" (they could say he's Japanese, but it's a stretch...) I like the idea above about Maria AIRAM, but maybe just make it "Maria Iram". A little simpler. :) The AIRAM thing is neat, but it'd be near impossible to make a matching one for Oka Takao. @_@ I had another idea for her name several months back, also, but it escapes me right now... Masked Masque. Just for the Hell of it.

As for Oka Takao, I'd go with something like Gary Rag. Samuel Leumas. Omar Eramo. Something normal, probably Samuel. He's not as artificial looking as Keiko, and I tried doing AIRAM on purpose, though Iram makes it more of a real last name, for sure. I think it's important to keep the palindrome, mainly because it's rare to see those.

I think Maxwell is actually a pretty good name for Kaminogi. Though with "Max" already, maybe it ought to be his last name.

For Aiga I'm gonna suggest Ivan Churluv (maybe he's Russian or something~) because when you say it fast, it sounds like "I want your love." <3~

Calling Zenitora "Tony" seems appropriate, but his nickname should be kept as "Zenitora." Perhaps change the spelling so it has two n's, like "Zennitora" - that way it's a slight bit more obvious to Capcom fans. And I'm sure there are a fair number of people aware of what "Tora" means - especially with the movie, "Tora Tora Tora."

Mareka Marley (?) Sweets

Aiga I agree with Croik on the Ivan Churluv thing...

Zenitora Fornication under consent of the King ???

Chimani Medusa de Bicci (Maybe she could be Italian?)

Ayame Angel? Angie? HINATA-CHAN? (I agree on the last part... ^.^)

there's no pun to it, but I just finished GS3-4, and I think that Yuuki would make a great "Karen". don't ask why, that was just the first name that came to mind.

also, I...I kinda hope that they call Javado Draco...something *anything but "Sylvester"* it's a kind of lame name, yes, but wasn't Souryuu the name of a legendary dragon? that way, it would kind of fit. I have to admit, though, I'm a fan of Javado. it's kinda catchy.
of course, they could always call him Dimitri "Didi" Beckett.

Why not Smaug, then? Smaug Beckett.

You know, I always thought of Aiga as an arrogant goofy French detective. He just had that feel about him, what with the Arséne Lupin novels, and all. However, I agree that his theme music is indeed Eastern European sounding, and as such, I'm not uncomfortable with any name involving Ivan anymore.

Thank you Tinker. Aiga

I think Lilith would be a good name only because of the implications (although may be too obvious). Lilith means 'of the night' but also a demon in Assyrian Myths, as well as the evil offspring of Adam and herself (Kabala i think).

However, Dolores means 'sorrows' which could also be a good for the nature of her character.

Unfortunately, I know little of GS3 to say much about any character.

Lilith was a myth made up by Medieval Era rabbis and priests, possibly based on older myths, but I would doubt it. There are a lot of ambiguities in the Old Testament, particularly Genesis, but plenty others throughout the rest of the book. A few of these imply that Adam had more than one wife.

Lilith was the first, who left the Garden of her own free will when she refused to take the submissive sexual position. This was before the whole apple fiasco, so she is free of original sin, however, she and her children are depicted as monsters, eating babies and all that.

Well, at least that's how the story goes. A lot of medieval stuff was monks, priests, etc trying to figure out the world around them.

A lot of ambiguities in the OT are rather explained away (for the most part) by means of understanding a different culture, peoples (not western thought), literature, etc. It's a facinating story.

It's hard to take the adam and eve story seriously anyways, since the story itself is derived from plays on words (Adam in hebrew simply means earth or dirt), allegorically speaking about the humility of mankind should posess.

Then again, Jupiter is a weird Latin play on "help us."

Most religious characters have names derivative of their symbolism and function, I would say.
