Jean Armstrong sounds a bit too... simple and ordinary for being the flamboyant :chef: 's name. What's the pun? :knock-knock: *goes on pun hunt*

May be a distant relative to Alex Louis Armstrong... Nope that's not it.

Oh, and Desiree's the name of my former colleague :larry2: I like it!

Tres Bien=Tres Bien. What a surprise.

And personally, I think that Jean Armstrong, while sounding French, is a contrast to his camp appearance, macho name + girly appearance=lawl.

I typed in Armstrong on Wikipedia, and:

- Brad Armstrong (porn star), Canadian porn star
- B.J. Armstrong, former basketball player, most notably with the Chicago Bulls
- Neil Armstrong, American astronaut, first person on Moon
- Rebekka Armstrong, a bodybuilder, former Playboy model and AIDS activist
- Armstrong (automobile), an early English car

Well.. >_>

I know that but not in this instance. Nah, it's French for John. It's all the pronunciation. Also, Armstrong could be a ref to his muscly arms?

I just took the silliest one to be honest ;P

Jean, however:
Jean is a common female given name in English-speaking countries, pronounced /dʒi:n/ (IPA). It is the Scottish form of Jane (and is sometimes pronounced that way); both names derive from the Old French Jehanne (equivalent to Johanna/Joanna/Joanne/Joan). In French-speaking countries, Jean is a male name, roughly pronounced /ʒɑ̃/ (IPA), and cognate with English John.

So actually male in French, however female in English. Seems clever :)

Edited my last post, and Armstrong has a French accent, too:
"I am Jean Armstrong, I'm (????) and the 'ead chef of le Très Bien restaurant, Enchanté."
Makes me wonder if Très Bien is the brand name and the name of the restaurant ITSELF Enchanté.

No, enchanté is like saying "Pleased to meet you" in English.

That's most likely it because Kudo's a common Japanese surname, IF :igarashi: happens to be Japanese in T&T. The main character of Detective Conan/Case closed is Shinichi/Jimmy Kudo, for example.

Kudo translates into "this painful world" according to my English-Japanese Dictionary. I can't make up my mind about if it makes sense or not. He's really grumpy and stubborn, and unemployed, probably implying that he's not fond of the society in the PW universe :edgy:

Jean is a French male name, but it's also, in English, a female name. (It's my mom's name, actually)

Armstrong, however, I believe is an English-heritage name. It works with his beefy arms, but I think it's also trying to give the impression that he's not REALLY French, this is all just an act he puts on to SEEM French.

I think it's a VERY clever name, actually XD

Juan Armstrong surprised me, though I'm not sure of it's a good or a bad name.

But it's true, mr. Gay Chef DOES look like he's taken a few too many steroids, so the name DOES kind of fit with Lance Armstrong :P

I think it's actually a brilliant name.

Jean = masculine French name, but feminine English name (reflecting both his "French-ness" and his effeminate nature).

Armstrong could be a joke on his beefy arms, but since it's an English name, it gives the impression that all of his French-ness is a complete facade/an act.

I thought the Desiree is her last name, meaning she's married to Yuusaku...

The games usually showcase last names when talking to someone. And I think Desiree comes from 'desire'... as in, Yuusaku's desire for.... her or Mask deMasque.

Mareka goes by Mareka in the Japanese game. Her first name. So that would mean that her first name is Desiree. It's shown in a screenshot. :yuusaku:

Yeah, it's a first name. Plus, as there are two Amasugis (or whatever their last name will be), it likely makes sense that they'd split it into Yuusaku and Mareka... er, Desiree.

Anyone remember if GS3 used their first or their last names?
