I was watching the awesomely awesome trailer for about the seventeenth time and something that always catches my eye is the text 'The Drama Feverishly Reaches Its Conclusion'. Could this mean that now they are certain this is Wright's last game, they are going to make more of a denouement at the end?

Perhaps we'll find out what happened to all the characters (in a non-jokey way) or something of that sort, or maybe even a mention of Odoroki.

This topic mainly concentrates on the theories above, but generally, if you believe there will be any, what do you think the important/storyline-related/etc differences from the GBA games will be?

It's a direct port. There won't be anything new, IMO.

When they translated JFA, they made no attempt to reference 1-5, or to fix the error in the timeline it created. It talked about Edgeworth's last time in court being when Phoenix defended him, as it was in the original GBA.

If they weren't interested in fixing those slight errors, I don't think they'll attempt changing anything from the end of GS3.

Ya know. I think that points to a serious contradictions.

If Edgeworth's last case (canon wise?) was from case 1-4, then how does Case 1-5 fit into all this? Edgeworth prosecuted the 5th case in the first game. How is this possible, if he supposedly left from case 1-4? :ack:

Does case 1-5 take place after the events of the 3rd game, where case 1-5 starts, leading to case 4-1? Or does Case 1-5 re-write the entire history of the game, thus making case 5 canon, leaving game 2 and 3's events out, and replacing them to introduce game 4? :eh?:

BTW, I already know/realized that case 1-5 is already mentioned on the contradictions page of court-records.net. But I still thought about writing this.

Case 1-5 has nothing to do with GS4, except for maybe a tiny bit of foreshadowing. It comes right after 1-4, before 2-2. It doesn't fit in very well, because of the fact that Edgeworth wasn't supposed to have taken any cases after 1-4.

So yes, 1-5 rewrote the timeline a little when it was introduced, and JFA made no efforts to cover up that fact when it was translated.

Yea. I think the foreshadowing exists where Ema Skye exists in the 4th game. And a lot of extra features that were in Case 1-5, are also in Game 4 (like full 3d evidence examination, and video tape playback).

Edgeworth shouldn't have been in 1-5. Maybe it should have been Payne or someone else.

Lana: "This case couldn't have been solved without you and Mr. Payne".

Umm if you played/spoiled yourself on GS4 yet you missed the foreshadowing :shoe:

Spoiler:
During Gant's defeated conversation he says something along the lines of "Defense attourneys can fake evidence too" this happens in 4-1

Payne would've killed himself fighting Gant. Whimp.
Phoenix is totally Jewish.

1-5 has to be canon, because Ema mentions knowing Phoenix in GS4, yet games 2 and 3 say that case doesn't exist.

Ema could have existed without 1-5. It's just there to give her some backstory and make her existence meaningful but that's a bit of a lame excuse, given that she's a detective like Gumshoe and all. He never got a backstory at all.

Wasn't there a scene in Recipe for a Turnabout where Maya asks Maggey if there was a Doppelganger of her?

I think what Maya asked Maggey... is that in JFA, Maggey will be your assistant for the first bit of the trial, which was when before Maya arrived to give Phoenix that phone evidence.

I don't think Maya was told that Maggey was helping Phoenix, so when Maya asks about a doppelganger, the game could have been meaning that it was Maggey.

No, Pinky. She thought that since there was a double of Phoenix, there would be one of her. And maybe, in the localization, Phoenix could make a comment to himself alluding to Ema. And besides, Maya and Maggey don't look a thing alike.

YOU WERE NOT PONDERING WHAT I WAS PONDERING.

On starmen.net, somebody'd come in and say something like "Yes Brain, but The Rockettes? Aren't they an all-girl band?" or something to that effect. This board is good, but it pales in comparison.

Not necessarily, who's to say that 1-5 doesnt take place after GS3? or sometime during GS2 or GS3 and they just don't mention it in the games? Its logical to say even though its in the first game it could take place later on.

Also, technically this all goes out the window with the whole Edgeworth thing in this episode, but I would say it takes place sometime after the first game

Because Maya is away at Kurain training.

It even says so in the case.

Yeah, after the opening cinematic the first thing he says is that it has been two months since maya left the office. That and Ema mentions his perfect trial record, which wouldnt be true as of JFA.

Well right now you are assuming. Don't assume until you actually see what else is said in that converstation between the two. And by the way, don't call me Pinky.

Who's assuming? I've spoiled myself endlessly. And if you have any restraint, and haven't read they case descriptions or anything, I could easily say that YOU are assuming.

From the translation guide on GameFAQs:
Quote:
Mayoi asks if there was an imposter of her. Mako says no.
Mayoi looks disappointed.

There's nothing in there referring to the possibility that this hypothetical double could be Maggey. And I'm not sure, but if the third line is Phoenix's inner monologue, they could replace it with a line similar to the "Poisoned coffee? You don't see that everyday." line in GS4. However, that's just a possibilty, and they passed up an oppurtunity like this in JFA, so who knows?

And that Pinky thing wasn't exactly an obscure reference, so why didn't you seem to get it?
