Why did they go to Dusky Bridge? (spoilers)

Why did they go to the Dusky Bridge to hand over the diamond? They were all in on the plan, working together. There was no witness they needed to put on a show for. The moment they had the diamond, they could go home; they didn't need to go to the bridge to hand it over.
Sure, Dahlia and Valerie were going to betray Fawles by framing him for the "murder" of Dahlia, but why would Fawles go along with performing these theatrics at Dusky Bridge?
