I found a sort of pun to her name, similar to April May's. Dahlia is one of the birthflowers for April, while Hawthorne is Hawthorn, one of the birthflowers of May.

Both are a type of flower. But, they're the birth flowers of April and May.

Wow. Don't ask how I found it out.

HA...! :godot:

That is like, the best pun ever! :ini: It's like... They're referring to April May as a character profile of sorts. After all, they're the same type of character (saccharine on the outside, demonic on the inside). I wonder if it's just accidental, but I can almost not imagine them doing that by accident.

Either way, super good find! You deserve some kind of name-pun medal.

:omg:

Ayame basically means Iris so it's a translation from the Japanese. Also it's a flower name to go with Dahlia.

^ Yeah, basically. A LOT to do with flowers. So, maybe a "Southern Belle" type of thing? Sure looks the part, too.

YOU SERIOUSLY TRUST ANYTHING THAT'S WRITTEN ON WIKIPEDIA? :beef: *faints*

Anyway, Dahlia Hawthorne is a much better name than the one the people who were doing the fan translation (until T&T was annouced that is).

The name that they came up with: Delores Willows. :ack:

I guess I always thought the name Dahlia was because of the Black Dahlia. I figured they used the name Iris to make us think it was just flower names and throw us off a bit about Dahlia's true nature. April-May point is good too! :pearly:

...I'm not sure this idea is valid, considering we know that Dahlia's an evil crazywoman long, long before we even know Iris exists...

But the April-May thing is a really interesting find. oO

yeah, it's not though. april's birth flowers are the sweetpea and daisy, not the dahlia. the dahlia is, in fact, not a birth flower. neither is the hawthorn; the lily is may's birth flower. OP was way off.

But Valerie has different birth parents than Iris and Dahlia. I think that makes sense.

Wow. You're a genius. I had no idea a name like this could have been a pun, especially not with an equally bad name (April May) :O

But now that you mention it (obvious alert; somebody probably already said it), Iris is a flower too.
