*EAYOR = Enter At Your Own Risk, since there was not enough room in the title bar to type it in.

Now then, at the end of Case 5 Godot states that he saved Maya from Dahlia either from the fact that she was the only thing remaining that reminded him of Mia or that he was so full of hatred toward the woman who took his life and everything else away from him.

The purpose of this topic is simple, and speculatory at that: Why do you think Godot did it?

I think it would be interesting to hear some of your opinions as to why Godot would go through with such a self-less act of courage to save the life of another.

Also, while we're on the subject of Case 5 I'd like to know what the hidden meaning behind the whole thing was. If I knew that then I could better compare it to the more dramatic cases like 1-4 and 2-4. It feels like I'm missing on something that could very well change my perspective on life, the universe, and everything in between.

Godot's entire motivation after he was revived was that he failed to protect the one he loved (Mia), so to "restore his honor" he would protect the closest link he had to her (Maya).

His act was hardly self-less, though. He could've easily avoided the whole mess and prevented Dahlia from being summoned in the first place, but in failing to do so he put Maya and pretty much everyone else in tremendous danger just to play the part of the big hero.

I can totally understand his reasons for doing that. I mean, he died, and when he came to his true love and her murderer, also incidentally his "murderer", were both dead. He felt deprived of anything worth living for. Then he read morgans letter, and a...well...selfish desire for revenge arose. He could have prevented it, its true, but that would deprive him of the opportunity to kill Dahlia, in a matter of speaking. He couldnt save Mia, but Dahlia came up and gave him an opportunity to fulfill his other wish.

Basically what he said, Godot would fall under the "Tragic Hero" character, his intentions were good (protect Maya) but because he was blinded by his hatred and desire for revenge (against Dahlia), that is what cause 3-5 to happen.

I think "selfless" is the LAST word I would use to describe Godot.

In the end, Godot did save Maya's life. But if he had any REAL care for her safety, he would have prevented Pearl from finding the letter in the first place. Or, if he didn't want to hurt Pearl's feelings, he could have pulled Maya aside once she was alone in the temple, and warned her. He could have confessed to what had happened the moment the police arrived, to keep her from going through the pain of being on trial after her ordeal. He didn't tell Pearl the truth about her mother so that she wouldn't feel bad about it...but he has no trouble putting Maya on the witness stand when she's been starving in a frozen mountain cave for days? So that she can defend the man who just murdered her mother!?

Does ANY of that refelct an honest desire on his part to give a shit about Maya, her safety, or her feelings? Doesn't seem like it to me.

(The idea that anyone needed to protect Pearl from the truth also baffles me, to be honest - she spent a year visiting her mother in prison. She stood next to Phoenix when Adrian described trying to kill herself. I think "I can't find my mother's letter" is much less traumatizing than her cousin's life being in danger).

The only thing Godot did for Maya's sake and not only his own was killing Dahlia when he realized the plan had gone wrong. But even that he admits was not ONLY for her. It was still mostly for himself.
