But why then was it vertical instead of horizontal like normal writing.

Maybe cuz Asian writing is sometimes vertical? It might've taken less time to edit when they were localizing it...maybe? :yogi:

Well, it's more diagonal than vertical. Maybe she'd be writing into her side if she did wrote straight across? It couldn't blend in with the blood coming out of her wound, or else no one would be able to read it.
