He'd probably try to seek out Worthy, and stop him from choosing that path. I'd say he'd try to reason with him and tell him how he's changed from being "heartless" to caring. Whether or not he actually believed he was chose that path I can't say ( butto me, JFA made me think he really didn't believe it, he was just being stubborn, and hurt that he chose that path).

He'd probably attempt to explain things to Pearl without making her upset, but he'd bungle it up and she'd run off by herself and somehow make it all the way back to Kurain before Phoenix and Maya got there by train, and then Maya would go and console Pearl while Phoenix goes off looking for the next story trigger.
