Realistically, his mouth should've been bleeding like mad while he was chewing it, let along swallowing it. Maybe the plot would've been more believeable if he just swallowed the bottle whole. xD (And yes, it did say in the dialogue that he DID chew it)

Alternative reasonable explanations for not being poisioned:
-It takes 2 teaspoons to be fatal. There would have been traces left after Dahlia used it (it's only a small container). Probably not enough to render a noticable effect.
-It's been 6 months. Any remaining poision could possibly have been weakened (combined with above).
-Phoenix sneezed on it so he washed it
Or he just washed it for some other reason.Anyway personally I think it was a plastic bottle. I'm not entirely sure. It's the only explanation I can think of that that explains how he could chew it without slicing his gums to shreds, let alone the journey down/out.
But really... I don't know :(
