She was probably referring to Pearl as "that little girl" so as to avoid confusing anyone who didn't know who Pearl was.

Prefessionalism. If you're on the stand, and you refer to people by name then It makes it look like you were in cahoots with them. By saying 'that little girl' Maya distances herself from Pearly.

She says "that little girl" in an attempt to hide the name of the person who was also at the scene from the player of the game, thus creating a ridiculously complicated puzzle for the player to try to figure out who it could have been. At least, that's how I see it.
