English version:

As you probably know, AAI won't be translated in French. That being said, Avistew and myself have decided to create a team, so as to translate the game into French. We'd like to provide the best translation possible for French fans of the game, and we'll try our best to achieve this goal. But of course, we now need people to help us doing so! The project has just begun (today, actually), so we still have to plan everything. I will post more information in the following days. But at least, you know that
We need:

Translators, Translation-checkers, quality checkers, etc...

Of course, for the translator, and translation-checkers positions, you need to be both fluent in French and English. We won't hold a test, but we still might want to check your skills. More info to come soon, of course :)

Our current objective is a translated transcript of the game, but we're perfectly aware this might not be quite practical at all... So, if you know of a way to do in another way, please share your thoughts/suggestions with us!

One question... have you been able to edit the fonts? is that the rom has only 2 accents: á and é

Yes, there are only 3 accents in the rom: á, é and ï.

but we can create our own accents by modifying some fonts we don't need (e.g & % # )

edit: Soooooorry!I check my rom and can't find the fonts as usual.
It seems that Capcom has compressed it.
There wouldn't be a easy way extracting these fonts.
I will see if I can solve that.

How do you even pull off a translation? I want to know.

Someone dumps the script, then the translation teams take the raw data, and tries to make it Localized. However this is often without context. The script has to be reinserted into the rom and tested. Then the cycle continues until the script is fixed. This doesn't even cover graphical items that may need to be localized.

Have managed to extract images of the game? I suppose they are in romfile.bin, but do not know how to unzip.

If i had a bit of money, i'd buy the game, but i'm still unclear about doing it >.<

Anyway, if i can, i'd be glad to help you guys. I'm pretty confident in my own english skills, even as after-reading check.
If y'need help, just let me know, i'll be gladly on the work, even tough, as you said, we're taking over our free time.

Well, possessing French family, including a French cousin disheartened to find his beloved game only in English, and taking an A Level in French, planning to continue in University, I'd like to help by...checking the translated product for any errors; grammar is a weak point, but I self-rectify by speaking the lines out myself and seeing if they sound "right". I can always nab my mum to help.

But yeah, don't think I'd be handy as a main translator, but I can definitely proofread/check.

Well, Ace Attorney Investigations: French translation team is best at their works and the translation has found in both the versions which would probably help to play the game with more enthusiasm. The players would be very grateful for the French fans if the games are developed in their own native language.
