Wikipedia and many other websites announced over the weekend they will be going offline tomorrow in protest of SOPA and PIPA.

Given the subject matter Court Records covers, I was wondering if it will follow suit. I think it should personally.

Thoughts?

Hmm... hadn't considered myself. Tempting though. Though, kinda short notice for anyone to suggest it though.

Court Records is nowhere near big enough to influence anyone.

Now that's a defeatist attitude if I ever heard one. I seem to recall in the not too distant past a fan site that pooled together and raised a not-insignificant amount of cash to help an admin who was having an abnormally terrible time with life.

It'll only be for one day, so I say go for it. To make up for it there's always the backup forums if people really can't keep away from the goodness of Court-Records (unless that goes down as well?).

Hrm... I don't see Croik. I'm disinclined to do something drastic non-emergency like this without her prior consent.

Of the four sites I've asked this question on, Fantasy Anime was the only other site that said they'd consider the 24-hour blackout.

Glad to see you guys are considering it at least. Am I really the first person to bring this up? Surely there were others who thought the same way O.o;

If ya brought it to my attention a day earlier, I would've had a chance to bring it up when I talked to Croik about our upcoming <redacted> right around the Court Event.

There's a difference between being a bunch of really kind-hearted people and having political clout. But it is fair you point that out though, I guess I wasn't being specific enough in my reasoning. CR is able to positively help the community and peoples lives. I'm just not sure that we'd have influence on SOPA.

We could however put on our blanked out page a message to Capcom, if we do do it, asking them to stand with us. Much easier to influence a company we're friends with than a political establishment.

Newgrounds has done it too, though you can still access the site if you have links to the pages. Plus Equestria Daily and LiveJournal have modified their banners, and DA has a discussion going on. And now Tumblr is giving you the option to black out your blogs for the day.

Here's a list of sites taking part in the blackout (it's HUGE):
