So I just found out Sam Riegel, Phoenix's VA in Dual Destinies and UMvC3, will be a guest at SacAnime this summer. If anyone lives in or plans to visit northern California around August 29th to August 31st, Sacramento's Sheraton hotel is where the convention (and thus he) will be...

So I finally grew a brain and remembered to give myself a signature... Whoopee.

I seem to be the only one who doesn't have this opinion. I agree he's more high-pitched than Apollo's VA but its like everybody has totally forgotten about how much more whiney and high pitched Ben Judd's version of Phoenix was: http://www.court-records.net/sounds/Pho ... ection.mp3

I mean, Riegel isn't perfect but he's ~~streets ahead~~ miles ahead of the old version. (No offense to Ben Judd, his voice sounds much more normal in interviews I've heard so I'm unsure as to why Capcom had him use such a high-pitched voice for the original AA).

I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

*shrugs* I admit I still prefer Ben Judd's voice over Riegel's, but it's not like Riegel did a bad job, at least in DD.

I guess it's just me then. To me Ben Judd's voice sounds much higher-pitched than Riegel's, but I don't know. I do know that when Judd's voice sounds much more appealing to me if I'm playing the game through the DS speakers rather than headphones, if that has anything to do with it.

I don't get, why do people hate his voice? I mean, not everyone has a deep voice even after they hit puberty. (There's a lot of people who sound more high pitched than Sam's voice.)

It's that it doesn't seem fitting for Phoenix. When I first heard it I thought it was more like Apollo's voice.

Here is why

Several of Phoenix's clips in DD sound closer to Apollo's clips in AJ in my ears. Particularly Hold it and Objection.

... Yeah. I don't really see it. They sound recognizably different to me...

I personally thought Phoenix's voice was supposed to sound higher-pitched than Riegel's. Heck, before I even heard Judd's "Objection" for the first time, his voice in my head was about the same pitch as Judd, except with a tendency to crack into higher pitches. That's why I don't entirely like Riegel's voice. His acting in DD was better than I expected, so to me, that made up for it.

I thought he did just fine myself and feel it's a good fit. Though, like with Chie's new voice in P4G, it took a while to grow on me, and now I like it more than the original. Same with Riegel's Phoenix voice. Didn't care for it too much, but now I really like it.

This really reminds me back when T&T came out and so many people hated on Edgeworth's "Hold it!" and "Take That!" voice clips until it eventually grew on them over time. I really feel the same thing is happening here. I'd say just give it some time. I did that with Chie's voice in P4G and now I can't help but feel that her new voice defines what Chie is now.

On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.
