Back on topic, it's a shame, but not very surprising. I'd imagine NoE has their own in-house resources for casting, and I don't see why that'd intersect with Riegel's group (remember, Riegel was voice director for DD as well as Phoenix's VA.)
It does make me wonder if they'll re-record Phoenix for the US release, but I think that's unlikely.

It's always the same reactions anyways when a new voice actor is revealed for a character.
"What, Sam Riegel will replace Ben Judd!?!? Riegel sucks!"

As long as I don't get monotone/awkward Phoenix for the entirety of the game, I'm fine with it. Not to hound on Narumiya or anything - he did just fine in the movie - but his acting somewhat ruined some of the scenes for me. Even then, it's not like I couldn't enjoy the scenes anyway.
But what I dislike most is this wait time until release date. Can't March 28 come any sooner?

Speak for yourself, I didn't like Riegel.
Though I'll admit this voice actor is lacking conviction in his objections...much like the sad emotionless face that accompanies his trademark fingerpoint.
Ah well I remember this was Phoenix's first trial run with 3D models and it's just minor gripes I'm sure once I'm in the game I won't mind.

I agree that for DD he sucked. His voice didn't match for Wright especially since he is now more older in the game so its weird that he gave Wright a younger voice.

It's only six days away. Hell, I even took my 3DS to school, connected to their internet, kept it in my locker, then downloaded Dual Destinies when it came out, so I could play it when I got home.
Putting that aside, I wonder who it was that voiced Phoenix in those previews? I know it wasn't Roger Craig Smith, I'd recognize him because he was Ezio.

At least you only have to wait till the end of the month. The US doesn't even have a release date yet.
As for Phoenix' voice, I'm kinda bummed that it isn't Riegel, but I didn't mind the new voice in the cutscenes they showed. His Objection and Hold It were pretty bad and certainly lacked enthusiasm, though.

OH GOD! I literally almost fell of my chair laughing at this! His Dutch voice is so passive that he couldn't even command a dog with it. I know that the translations for 'Hold it' and 'Objection' are 'Wacht even' and 'Protest', but there is absolutely zero power behind those words. I sincerely hope there is an option to select the English voices and text, because the whole game would become a joke to me with this text and voices.

I dunno. They did go out of their way to re-record for Luke in the European versions of Professor Layton, so I don't see it being too out of the realm of possibility. As for how I feel about this, I really don't care. I just want a solid US release date over here.
