Um...I'm not American, but I think states that practice capital punishment deal the sentence based on the severity of the crime. In the games it would seem to be the perpetrators in highly-publicized or cases of premeditated murder, but we don't hear the fate of every single murderer that gets convicted, so it's hard to tell.
Anyway, I like the 'return for vengeance' idea, though it might be a bit spoiler-y for the front page.

Point is, Dramatica's right in some ways. Who the hell said Daryan got put on death row for murdering Romein LeTouse, even if it wasn't premeditated? What about that guy who killed his wife who was pregnant and apparently threw her into a river? What about frickin' Charles Manson? Though they're on death row, they aren't dead yet. C'mon.
