Hm. Although you deserve major kudos for being able to create animations that smooth, it's too smooth, and it's not helping. :P

I'm going to edit this with a much rougher design and hopefully a speed-fix. :D

Hm. There's nothing wrong with your file; the issue is that the image is moving so fast that Firefox/IE consider it too quick, so they throttle the frame speed to a bare minimum. Because Croik's animations aren't damaged, that throttle appears to be 30ms. :)

This animation is running at 30ms, with the exception of the base, which operates at 50. Just to test this for fun and for future reference, I'm going to find the point that the browser starts throttling the animation speed.

Here we go. Moved to latest post.

I tried speeding it up in GIMP but when it saved the preview went slower like the original. But that is much better! Thanks!

People in Firefox, IE and Opera please report which animations are moving slowly, and also which one looks the best on your screen, and also which web browser you're using. Thanks:

Image Base 100ms; Frames 80ms
Image Base 100ms; Frames 70ms
Image Base 100ms; Frames 60ms
Image Base 100ms; Frames 50ms
Image Base 50ms; Frames 40ms
Image Base 50ms; Frames 30ms
Image Base 40ms; Frames 20ms
Image Base 30ms; Frames 10ms

For me, the last one moves slowly in Firefox. I'm pretty sure IE has a much less generous speed throttle, which is why this needs checking.

Bah! GIMP rounds the frame speed to the nearest ten when it saves! Goit. Changed frame speeds to the correct values and changed some of the test images so they're actually useful.

IE: Gotcha! Minimum animation speed in IE is 60ms. Keep that in mind and switch to Firefox. :P

It'd be nice if someone with Opera could report which smilies do and do not work correctly. Thanks.

Minimum Frame Speed
Firefox 2: 20ms/f
IE7: 60ms/f
Opera: ?ms/f

Sorry about that earlier. :P FYI, my favourite in Firefox is #6; in IE they all suck. :P

7. And actually, the first three are off time with the rest, although that may be loading issues. But I think the first two are slightly faster. Could be all three, though.

Nah, that adds up with what I was getting in IE; the rest are simply getting slowed down. It's a shame you can't see #6 properly, because that's the one with the best timing by a mile. You'd need to run this page through Firefox to see it, unfortunately. :/

Moved to latest post again. :P

There's a bit of a problem with the Cody smiling sprite.

When I clicked on him to enter his smilie code into my post... he should have appeared as the Cody smiling smilie, but instead appeared as shocked Cody. The reason? Both smilies have the same code name.

The one that came up for windows on the main Opera site. Probably the latest version. I'm back to IE right now though. I'm to set in my ways. But now at least I can switch around if there's a need to check anything!

Edit: And Don or Donno please. Donny sounds like I should sing with Marie! (LOL!)

As long as they make new games there will be more smilies. I like the section idea though. Click "View more smilies" and have AA1, AA2, AA3, AA4, etc, at the top and smilies organized by game in separated sections below. Maybe have a line separating them. You click one of the AA# and it takes you to that game's s section. But that may be to much work to set up.

I asked about it (can't remember when, but some time last year) and someone (might have been Wooster) said that it's pretty difficult to make that although he'd like that to be made. Still, it would be a nice thing.

I noticed we are lacking a "Google smiley", so I decided to try to do one as I got an idea for it. I know we already have one 'Makoto showing her drawing' smiley, but I didn't remember it when I started to make this so I made it from the scratch. It's not the best, but at least I tried. Any ideas how to improve it?

Google is maybe the most known search provider when speaking about the whole world. Also, a typical "search this with a search provider" smiley usually has the text "Google" in it (reference: Image) and people talk about googleing when asking people to search something in the Internet.

That said, it's understandable why it says Google and not "Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista etc.".
