I think something's off. And the speed isn't so great either... I used the same speed as the original sprite though. Should I slow it down? Am I just being too critical? How is it?
There are a number of minor adjustments that should be made to this.
1) More effective shading
2) Tweak the glove; it's too big
Sort those out and we should have a smily up with the best of them. ^^

Okay, then what should I do for the shading? I scaled sections of the original sprite and cleaned them up, so it's using the original shading. (Like does the glove need work (other than the sizing which i'll do in a minute.)? Or the hat?
And as far as the sizing for the glove goes, is it the somewhat trapezoid-looking part from the wrist on that really needs to be smaller? I don't think resizing the fist would help much at all since it's pretty small already. I think maybe Phoenix_Apollo is influencing my decision lol.
Then what else should I do with them? If I do ones like the current Minuki smiley,
(the lines for eyes), it just doesn't look right. And if you take a look at the original sprite, her eyes do go from wide open to that happy - shut style, if you get what I mean. Maybe if I took one of the pixels off the right eye (the part that looks all long when they're not open >.>), that would make it look a little better. I was really trying to get the diagonal look from the original sprite though... and I'll repost the original for the sake of comparison. It kinda didn't come out that way, though with the base and everything.
I'll open up my Paint document with the work and give it another go in a minute.

I can see what you mean about the diagonal look, but I think you can achieve that and keep the proportions right as well. See
for a vague idea of what you could do to achieve this.

How is the ever troublesome hand?
I'm sure it's not flawless, but I need a second opinon to see the problems. The main one I can see is the fact that in the sprite, his hand isn't in view at first, but this isn't a problem because his arm indicates where his hand is. In the smiley, arms are a no-no so I don't know whether (and if yes, where) to put his hand in the first frame.
Any opinions on this or anything else regarding the smiley I welcome.</yoda dialect>

We don't need to see the hand at the beginning, but maybe one frame half way up to the finish would be good.
And maybe toning back the speed a hair would be good.

See, that's the problem with me. I never--EVER--get innuendo. My friends are always pointing out the things in what I say. I never said they did--I simply requested that an extra frame was added in, where his arm(hand, whatever)was horizontal.

I actually used the GS4 sprite as a guide, and that leaves out the first hand by the side frame.
Besides the majority like it how it is, but I will change it if I get time.

THIS. I'm with Ultimate Prosecutor on this one, and I come bringing decisive evidence. I think it looks awesome as it is right now.

What I think could be done is if you move the couple final frames over a pixel or two and back to make them look like they're shaking, because that's how Meekins gets his point across, if this would be going in the GS 1 section. I think it reflects his character more that way. The GS4 animation always seemed kind of bland to me. That's what was missing from it. You've got the design down 100% IMO.

If Wooster decides to put this smiley up there (which I would totally love and think should happen) this version should be the way to go.EDIT: Okay. I decided to compose a list of smilies that were forgotton, ignored, and completed after the last update. This goes all the way from the first page of the topic. Of course, this doesn't mean they HAVE to be added, but once Wooster gets a chance, it would be nice.
