You (as well as the rest of the internet) has to understand that nobosy knows everything ahead of time. Frankly, I am betting those who have had the most outcry have not been regulars there. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with the article, they didn't find as much or as funny stuff as they did with some other sites, the Harry Potter one are good examples of how bad it can be.
But seeing as how the writer didn't play the AA games, they could only really comment on the introductions and general chat threads, so it was limited to say the least.

No duh. Even I'd have a hard time if I drew anything like that.
Learn better drawing habits and it won't be so hard and a lot of parts won't look weird. The way you drew that thing looks like a lot of pastel or ink without a medium like a brush. It's a miracle it turned out the way it did with whatever means you used.
Normally I'd complete this with a fanart of equal characteristic, but my drawing style is too strange to bring gumshoe's hair and Maggy's eyes to light. That and the 1" thick sheets of paperwork I'm going through every week has me completely sick of 8.5x11 sheets. I'd prefer a tablet since it seems like I'm borderline physically-attached to this computer at the moment. When I get one of those, you'll be the first to know.

Ace Attorney does NOT have this kind of presence. Instead of the classic OMG I HATE J00 F4GZ!!!!
or constant wall of text that picks apart everything horrible/meaningless/stupid about such a thing, the response AA warrants is a simple WTF is that? and maybe a little more if you're lucky. Ace Attorney has about the same presence as the first few episodes of GunSlinger Girl. Maybe more. This is a good clue as to why the review was kept really short and simple.

To be honest I don't really think Julia's art is that bad. I've seen a lot stuff much much worse than that but I still appreciate the artists' effort and works. I don't know a lot about the forum chatting or self introducing things, but the part of sneering at others' arts pissed me off. I mean, come on, we draw fan arts because we love the game the the characters, it has nothing to do with the artists' drawing skills. There is no one who can draw a perfect art from the very beginning, every body starts as a green thumb. What really does matter is the artists' enthusiastic, effort and the fun of drawing. The writer wrote the article to show what a fat jerk he or she is, there is no need to feel bad because of such a fool, Julia.

That doesn't make any sense. An account gift cert would be really awesome and would be really convenient to use on a certain Kenji that lurks here every now and then.

Also, the article raises an interesting point. I had absolutely no idea this site really looked like that. It is my belief that it was an indirect result of this. It was fairly negative publicity.
Well, except Julia...<3's art. She put a lot of work into that regardless of their opinions. I personally thought it was pretty decent.
Don't worry, Meekins the Cat is my second favorite art from you. (First favorite is the Ho Badger, just because it makes me lol at the ho-ness.)
It's the Internet, and it's full of weird and sometimes mean people. It's a fact Internauts just have to accept.
