Error when posting

With the forums back on here, I'm having an issue whenever I post. Every time I type out my message, and click submit, I get this message: The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

Right now, I'm trying to submit a message, and I must have clicked the submit button 20 times, each time getting that message, which is preventing me from posting. Can anyone figure out what the issue with this is?

If you wait too long between hitting reply on the topic, and submit on your reply, your session expires and you have to hit submit again in that short time frame. *Shrug* It's a security feature.

For sake of argument it's always been here. It wasn't around in the 'early' days of the phpBB board, but it got added in an update a while back. Saddly there's no way to disable it without ripping the code apart.

... then you get to do it again when we upgrade.

So how long is this time limit you get between clicking 'reply' and 'submit'?

The auto-login feature expires after about an hour of no activity. If it's taking you longer than that to post and you're not regularly hitting the Preview button to keep the session open (and with the recent server traffic issue, avoid that please for all our sakes ;) ), you get logged out before you post. This board doesn't let unregistered users post, so your attempt to post is suddenly invalid and you get errors.

The simple way to solve this problem is to make sure you're still logged in in another window - it doesn't take long to check and you avoid getting your post eaten by the server that way. Mind you, this board is pretty good with retaining post content after errors, so it's unlikely this is going to be a serious problem for anyone. :)

Does we even do these things anymore?

Does that happen if you choose the "log in every time" option?

I always have that checked on my computer because I'm totally lazy...

That way you elimanate the need to re-login evry now and then. Also, by having that box checked dosn't mean you're lazy.

You save time & energy doing so, as long as the computer you use is not shared publicly (examples: the school's computers, the library's, etc.).
