Shu Takumi's message No. 1 (All three series)

Quote:

Uhm............ what does that mean? Google Translate didn't help at all >.<

(Also, in that first link, in the last panel of the comic, Lang is saying "I don't know", right?)

Google Translator sucks, but according to it Takumi seems to mention "something we've been looking forward to". Dunno if he's talking about this mobile-mail magazine or what.

Also, don't want to hype anyone up (including myself), but if he considers the series finished, why does he do this kind of stuff? :/

Actual translation, please? <:D

The general gist from what I can make of it is that...

Takumi wrote:
Hello! I am Shu Takumi of the Ace Attorney Team. It is a questionable (doubtful) name but it is absolutely Japanese. I am in charge of planning, scenarios and I am the director of this game.

‥‥と、最初のコラムでみなさんに『ごあいさつ』してから、はや10年‥‥いや、まだ9年なのかな。ややヤヤコシイですね。

I'm not sure exactly what he's trying to say but he says that it's puzzling that it's (I think - not too sure) that it's been nearly 10 years since the beginning of the first (Saisho can also mean beginning) column...? Perhaps he is referring to the series itself...

When it was first released, people played it [AA] on the dear (nostalgic) Game Boy Advance and now, some play it on the Nintendo DS, mobile phones, the Wii with it's remote control or the dashing iPhone. Really, to imagine that it would be played by people on so many various consoles... I feel the weight of ten years... or nine. It's somewhat puzzling, isn't it?

Not quite sure by the end but I did my best to translate it...

Anyway, till now, there has been the thought (idea) of making games that hasn't changed since I started making Ace Attorney. "Even if I stand up for twenty years or ten, I'd like to make something that can be enjoyed." Looking back, time has passed. Indeed, it's like a miracle you can play. It is this happiness a game maker feels knowing their games can be enjoyed.

The series has received so much support from all of you and I've realized that it was right to make this. The staff are doing all in their power to keep this series in this way. Thank you for everything really!

And the Ace Attorney series. Everyone and I together look forward to what it [AA] will become.

So there. Now, please take care.

As I said, this is just a general translation of what it is. I haven't spent much time going deeper in and in some parts, I put it together since I didn't really understand what he meant. Hope it helps anyone!

Thx Tap! You are so much better than Google translate xD

That "Everyone and I together look forward to what it [AA] will become." makes it sound like the AA series is gonna continue, even if he's not part of the team. I just hope "it" means Gyakuten Saiban and not Gyakuten XXX xD (Although either is fine :P)

Thanks for that, Tap. Seems like a generic introductory message. But I still have to wonder why Takumi's doing this, after he clearly stated his work on the series is finished.

Gyakuten XXX to refer to Gyakuten Saiban and Gyakuten Kenji (and any other game they may make). Just to make a distinction between the whole series and the Gyakuten Saiban series.

Thanks JapaneseGirl and Tap for the semi-translation. It was a bit of an interesting read nonetheless.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

While the general gist is right, the crucial part everyone is talking about was translated wrong :P

Quote:
Greetings

Hello,

"I'm Takumi Shuu of the Gyakuten Saiban team. It's a strange name, but it's really a Japanese name. I am in charge of planning, scenarios and directing this game."

Ten, no, nine years have passed since I first made that greeting in the very first column (*the columns for the GBA release). It's kinda strange.

There are probably lots of different people here, people who have played the games on the now nostalgic GameBoy Advance when they were first released, but also people who played it on the Nintendo DS, mobiles or maybe people who are playing it with a Wii Remote in one hand, or rather hip on an Iphone.

If I try imagining that, then I truly feel the weight of 10 years. No, 9 years. It's kinda strange.

Anyway, from the time we first started making "Gyakuten Saiban" till now, there has been a feeling inside of me regarding games that hasn't changed. "I want to make something that can be enjoyed even if 10 years, or even 20 years have passed"
And yes, that time has actually passed now. The fact people have played the games for so long, that's really a "miracle", and that is for us game makers, and for the game itself, the biggest happiness there is. Thus I realize once again.
The fact the series has made it all the way up until now, that's really thanks to the support of the people who play it. And it's because of the effort of everyone on the staff who work hard to make the game better. Truly, thanks for everything!

And this "Gyakuten Communication" (the name of the mail magazine). How will it turn out? I will look forward to it together with everyone else.
So. Please continue supporting us in the future.

@JapaneseGIRL: thanks for posting :3 Aaah, I miss being in Japan, using my mobile ;_;

This still sounds to me, like Takumi considered himself as still being involved in the series...

Well, I guess I can hope and dream. :lana:

Don't focus on it too much. Douzo yoroshiku onegaishimasu is one of the those highly contextual sayings which are nigh impossible to translate, as it's used everyday everywhere in various situations in Japan.

Does he mean something like "Please remember me?" Depending on the situation, as you say he could mean all kinds of things.

Is Takumi trying to do this on purpose? Is he trying to fill my life with so many riddles that can't do anything else but sit in front of a computer, read the fan speculation and try to decipher exactly what he is saying?!

... Just kidding. Love you Shu-Shu!

And thanks JapeneseGirl for the translation

Don't read too much into this. At best this magazine will give you cryptic hints. (We're working on something and have been very busy. Something that is not Ghost Trick. But I'm so busy I can't talk in detail right now. Tune in next month when I'll talk about more about how wonderful this series is.) I don't expect this to advance far.

... on the other hand. Food for thought. Last time I heard Takumi ranting about how great his series was while he was pumping GS4. I give it a 10:1 ratio of chance of him talking about GK2 via this blog, maybe a side project?. Too early in the game to be talking about other big game projects IMHO.
