It may be too early to start moving back here (things could still go south) but I think it couldn't hurt for people to start to get organized over here.

So... for now I propose this thread be used to start getting things organized here in terms of moving groups, RPs, topics, etc. back to these forums and for other miscellaneous transitionary stuff (eg. members who may have a different username on the old forums.)

Commonly asked questions and their solutions at the moment:

Spoiler: "What if my name is different?" (updated)
If you want to get your name changed, post in the username change thread, and once things are 100% an admin will change it. Until then, or if you don't want to change your name, please post in this thread so your name can be added to the index there.

If you really need a name change now, Croik suggests PMing her.

Spoiler: "What about old topics? What about the RPs?"
There is no way to move old topics directly from the old forum; I recommend making a new topic in the appropriate section and including a link to the old topic.

As for the RPs, long-style in-depth RPs will still be fine here to the best of my knowledge. Less formal, faster-paced RPs will be moved to a forum administrated by Neni. I'll let her take over:

Not a sister site, yes, but a daughter-site.

I want us to be a kind of "playground" CR Members can come to to play without breaking the strict CR-RP rules (which only allow low-posting frequency Novel-style RPs) or flooding the rather fragile Mainforums with too many posts.

Just for your Information: Most of the RPs we have had here are actually forbidden in this form on the Main Forums. This is why we are currently creating this daughter Forum. Our RP-Forum will not allow any discussion aside from RPing, however. This should all stay on CR. We want to stay connected to CR, without loosing our right to RP script-style and using sprites. This is the main reason we are creating those Forums. Wooster approved of us being a daughter Forum to CR, HOWEVER, he has nothing to do with it except for that.

That is all.

Spoiler: "What will happen to the old forums?"
Absolutely nothing - they will remain as-is in the event of more downtime. They're called the backup forums for a reason, after all. However, once things are 100% here, they'll probably be locked until more downtime. This means you'll be able to read all the topics there, but not post. :minuki:

As a final note, this topic is just what I've gathered and not really 'official', so it's possible the answers above will become outdated due to any number of things. I'll try to keep them updated, though.

How do we move all this stuff anyway? I'm involved in the GK2 fan translation and that's growing quite large...

There's not really any way to move the threads directly; we'll have to create new threads with links back to the old ones for reference. As for the GK2 project, I guess that'll take up residence in either Mathis' corner or the Prosecutor's Lounge for now. Or, much more likely, will stay on the old forums until things are 100% here. Organization is tough enough as-is.

Since Wooster said everything we post here now will probably get lost during the move, I'll go with that latter option.

Well, don't quote me on this, but I think this is the new server, so there shouldn't be any risk of losing posts from a server move. But like I said, I'm not 100% sure, and it's entirely possible some will be lost due to other maintenance and repair work that needs to be done.

Yeah! CR is back! :keiko:

Need some time to get used to this forum again, but meh, it won't take long.

Anyway, is it true that you can move transfer threads? Or is it just linking a thread here to those on the Backup forum?

It's nice to know that we can move stuff from the old forum here, but I've been wondering about something....

We have this RP in the backup forum (I'm part of it), and it spans across three threads, with the least number of pages being 200+, one even extended to over a thousand...would it be possible to move all three of those RPs here? Because the old threads before this one went down are still around, wouldn't adding that large RP here re-establish the risks of a downtime?

Well, I hope we can successfully transfer the RP here. If not... can't we just link from the old forums and continue where we left off?

That's something we could do...but it would obviously be a hassle to new players who'd want to know the story first before posting.

Well, make it more of a hassle since those 1000+ pages aren't really for quick-read XD

Well, this is unusual. I've gotten so used to the old forums, that this seems very odd to me. Better get used to it.

Anyway, yeeeeah! We're back! :jazzedgy:

I'm around, but being the unsociable soul that I am I don't actually have any contact details for the other mods, so you'll have to make do with me until they show up again. As I'm currently on holiday as well as having an amazingly terrible internet connection at the moment I won't have much time for modding so don't bamboozle me with stuff.

Throwing in my own view on the RP questions, I suspect that linking to the old thread is the best bet, perhaps adding some kind of synopsis so newer players can understand everything. It's not my call either way, DeMat's the RP section mod.

And just a couple of statements before I go...
1. Mods can't make announcements that appear on the main site.
2. Mods can't change nicknames, it's all up to Croik.
3. Pretty much anything else we can do; deleting stuff, moving stuff, banning stuff, you name it.
4. If you were banned before the switchover you will be banned here if you make a new account (we're pretty lenient here, so permabans are rare, just don't go avoiding your temp-bans).
5. If you want a post deleted for whatever reason use the report key and specify why and a mod should get on it as soon as possible.

Well, right now, no one can make announcements appear on the main site, said feature is currently borked. For now at least.

Still, it's nice to have you around Nose. Nice to know someone has my back even if in a limited fashion.

As for contacting the other mods, I'm more or less in the same boat, other then being able to get ahold of Croik. But she and I still have stuff to go over regarding the current transfer so that may take up her normal forum time.

Well, actually I can also get ahold of Kenji, who is fired under no uncertain terms, and Anders, who's retired as best as I can tell. So it's really as good as just Croik.

Well for mods, I'll let Lunaria know. Only other one I know is Ceres and I've not seen him on msn in about 5 months (!) so can't tell him (think you've had more contact with him anyway).

Hrm...I was afraid of this. I know it's early but the fact only 3 mods are available out of what was close to a dozen before is...troubling. Once the forums fully stablize we'll need to get at least half of what we had before to cover what needs covering. More so since as both mods who posted said, they have real life priorities to consider.

I'd say once word gets out the CR of old is back on its feet it'll bring people back in droves. We are the heart and soul of the AA Fandom, after all.

...It's good to have the CR we all know and love back, though ^_^

I know this is a bit off-topic as well but my avatar and signature on both forums have been the same since I first made them XD

That "dozen mod" number is being a little generous. It was probably closer to half that number of active ones. Many of the mods haven't been here in years before this forum went on hiatus. I know I was a little absent at that time because of a new job.

And it's worth keeping in mind that while we might have a fairly low number of active mods, we don't need a tremendous amount of them - we're generally a pretty civil community. Of course as things get back up to full speed, if it turns out we do need more, I'm sure the staff'll take care of any necessary reshuffling.

Yeah it's like that on most of the fansites I frequent: Active is always half or less of the actual number. I left that out because I figured everyone already knew that.

As I said twice last night, I personally don't see the need for new mods right now BUT if we do add mods, only enough to cover the most active parts of the forum.

Once CR is running at top speed again it may be that we'll need to hire on a fresh batch of mods. For the time being we're still trying to figure out who is still around! So stay on your best behavior, yeah? ^_~

Anyway I don't think there's any way to transfer entire threads from one forum to the other (they're on different servers running different software) but the backup forum isn't going to be deleted. You can always restart a thread here and link back. We still have some organizational issues to work out especially as regards GK2 (wasn't even out when we went down, how nuts is that @_@) so don't get too cozy just yet. Things might still get moved around.

As for name changes, if you REALLY want or need your SN changed, better to send your request to me via PM, as I won't be trolling individual threads here for a while yet.
