Marshall So we're pioniers and we've traveled the Oregon Trail to our new homstead. Like with any new home, there's some adjustments to be made. Now, we can adjust to the new place, or what if the new place were to adjust to us?

Talk about bugs, layout, graphical changes, suggestions or anything really that pertains to the forums here.

Just a few guidelines, there are some things the entire staff can fix, some things only the admins can fix, but mostly, stuff only Mr. Techy can fix. So please be patient, at times there can be a lot that we want to change, and it takes a while on my end to find the right file(s) and figure out what changes may need to be made. Not to mention I can forget that I need to fix some things, so polite reminders are be inorder.

Next, there are some things that are outside of my scope at this point.

For instance, periodically we may have Internal Server Errors. We're on shared hosting, so when everyone (including other sites we share with) make a lot of noise with processing items and such we may slow down eachother. Sometimes it may not even be our fault. But dreamhost does move more active sites to areas of less activity, so we may be alright. This should only be a minor periodic problem.

Other issues may just be too complicated for a suggestion to be feasable. For instance, Mikker suggested while the forums were still under construction to break the various sections up so they mirrored how they looked at invisionfree. I was like, sure why not, that's a good idea. Then when it came to the code the templating system was set so the indexes were set in blocks, not sections.

IE.

And not...

Cat [Forum, Forum, Forum]
Cat [Forum Forum]

It would be easy enough to make the changes so whenever a category was called that the spaces were generated propery. However, it wouldn't be smart and be able to tell when a section was completed, thus in the first and last instance of a section, we'd have unwanted graphical errors (Section header below the last section, Section footer above the first section). For this particular problem I do know some ways around it, in theory at least, but it'll be a while to get it down in code.

Other then that the show is yours.

The option to view posts that I haven't read even if I logout of the board and then log back-in (Which blanks the new posts list regardless if they've been read or not). There's a phpBB mod here that does it and is used on one of the other forums I go to.

Gerkuman: That's actually something I'm working on, Though the issue is a bit complicated. In the short term we can have The last post's title. Not exactly the last replied post's topic. In the long term I hope to have something along those lines in a more solid format.

Archon: That's a good idea, and I really would've liked that. But that particular mod is for phpBB2, we're running phpBB3, they're at the technical level incompatiable. But it may or may not be within my scope to adapt it to our current forums. But that project would have to be low on the priority scale.

Mikker: Yep, and I'll do my best to keep up with those.

LoG: If you get the chance, can you post them again in the forums, just so I remain organized. =)

Is there a default page cut-off? The "Phoenix Wright Funnies" thread is up to 35 posts and there isn't a page 2 yet.

EDIT: Stupid me, the sticky of "Court Docket" has a page 2. Though 40 posts a page seems a little much to me.

I don't think it's too much, but I do think there should be an option to change it...unless there already is.

I have problems with the smileys list, beside it being too small.

Often it denies me the ability to post a smiley from the new list. And even when it works, it stops working after that single smiley.

Oh, and I just noticed the transparantier makes my sig switch once Ack Cool Godot

If you're doing it from the pop-up box of "View more smilies", it doesn't seem to put your smilies directly on the post. Instead, it puts the function for that smiley at the top of the box, and you have to copy-paste it over. That's how it works for me, anyway.

It did that sometimes on the other board as well, but here it doesn't even put the brackled code ANYWHERE.

It would be cool if it was possible to allign it along the top right edge of that area. And yeah, the magatama is excelent for this purpose.

Oh, and I just noticed one thng. The reply button in the pm section is the giant objection one. With a black background. Doesn't really fit in. The slightest.

I did in MS Paint, so I dunno. Sorry. It's definitely possible to align the offline button, but the online button's magatama "aura" sticks up a slight bit. We can't use it even if someone with Photoshop transparatizes it?

Huh. I just checked that now. Should be the topic reply small Objection button, yeah?

Something annoying about the search function...

If you search for a word, it highlights the word in yellow, and white text with a bright yellow background is frankly impossible to read. :/

Edit: And ironically the BBCode for bgcolor doesn't seem to work. Ack

It's pretty cool, Wooster. Normally it takes some time to get used to these things, but I like 'em off the bat.

EDIT: Actually, I just noticed. The "Posted at 9iftywhateverAM" thing is getting in the way of the posts slightly, as when they're about to hit it, they get ... what do you call it, "the thing that happens when you hit the 'Enter' key". It's not a big deal, but it's just odd that the "Posted at" marker is inside the message.

Is there a way it can be next to the subject or something?

Hmmmmmmm...so this is what Wooster was talking about on #gyakusai last night...I like it, especially how you made the buttons.

EDIT: ...Actually, now I notice what HH is talking about...hmmmmmm...yeah, I agree with HH, I think the "posted at" description should be posted in the title bar thing...still, with a little more tweaking here and there, I think the new look for the posts is pretty nice.

I like it, though the bottom row seems to move up for me when the person's post doesn't have a sig, or is just overall shorter than their info box. Aside from that, though, very nice.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, if possible. Since the bottom row is being put to waste with just the PM button, though, perhaps it can be moved down there instead.

I think I've repaired the Anchoring Problem. And I'm open to suggestions on what to do with the post date, but there are some constraints...

First, it won't fit in the top bar, considering where the Time used to be, the Quote button now sits. Not to mention that stuffing that third item up there would make it a bit crowded.

As far as the bottom goes, I'm not sure how I could put it there and make it look nice, but I can say that bottom right corner as Blade Master pointed out is off limits, if only because your handy dandy edit button is there, or at least it is when you can edit with your handy dandy edit button.

EDIT: Actually, something I would like suggestions on in addition to are what to do with the Report et al buttons at the bottom of each post. I haven't been able to think of anything.
