Anime News Network recently conducted an interview at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con with Dual Destinies' directors Motohide Eshiro and Takeshi Yamazaki.

The interview mainly deals with the development of the game, such as the transition to newer hardware, the decision to avoid full voice acting, the creative storytelling process, and more. Among other things, the directors claim that DD's controversial "M" for Mature rating was never intended to begin with.

Quote:
Motohide Eshiro: We certainly weren't aiming for an M rating. We don't think it's any darker or more grotesque than previous titles. But it did get an M rating, and we're fine with that. We didn't want to give a watered-down version to Western audiences.

Interestingly, the interviewer asked about the idea for a potential anime series.

Quote:
Motohide Eshiro: I think it would be suited to an animated TV series or film. I think the only reason we haven't done it so far is because there are so many things that need to fall into place. We need to find the right studio and a director who understands the series. It's a lock, and if all of the tumblers could fall into place, we would certainly turn the key.

The full interview can be read here.

Additionally, Siliconera conducted another interview with Eshiro and Yamazaki. The information is essentially the same, but also deals with the future of the series and the possibility of another Investigations game.

It can be read here.

He confirms having plans for a new game AND an anime adaptation, in the same week? This man is glorious. And he's answering everything!

When asked about a potential GS6 he said "we're doing 6 right now, we're announcing it at next year's TGS, it'll star Phoenix again and the final case's murderer is Pearl. Sorry for the spoiler. Also Wii U ports. Also AAI2 in the US. And GS6 and AAI3 on that matter. Also another Layton crossover.

Also Takumi's secretly the GS5 writer, and is writing GS6, AAI3, the anime and PLvsAA2.

Merry Christmas."

Plus everything is localized in English at the same time. :hotti:

Keep in mind that all he's saying is that they would like to do an anime if they had the resources and opportunities. It isn't a confirmation by any means.

Of course he isn't confirming it. But he has definitely just announced that he and the team have every intention to do it once and if the possibility turns up, which is, in my mind, half a confirmation.

I'm not saying we should be asking "Where's the anime Eshiro confirmed?" in a years' time, because that would be idiotic. All I'm saying is, we should start showing support for it and get interviewers to keep asking about it, so that they decide to actively pursue it instead of "waiting for all the pieces to fall into place." Fan support is never a bad thing :)

That sounds promising! I'd really love an anime of the series. I think it'd definitely work.

I wonder what it was that lead to the M/PEGI 16 rating? Perhaps the ratings have changed since the last AA release.

But... it's still July.

:edgeworth: DeMat, are you trying to trick us? And put that spoiler in spoiler tags for gosh sake!

Honestly, I have qualms about turning the games into anime. I'm sure they'd do an excellent job if they got started, but there's something about the games that isn't suited for broadcast on TV. I'm not saying that it's too violent or anything; just that the interactivity as you progress through the game makes for a more interesting experience. Nonetheless, should this come to light, I will show my full support for it.
