Its safe to say that Professor Layton and Ace Attorney fans alike have been rather anxious about a certain game over the last several months; obviously, I'm referring to the crossover game 'Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney'. While its publisher Level-5 has made it clear that they have not forgot about bringing the game to its fans outside Japan, due to a complete lack of any actual concrete details as of yet, the game's future in the rest of the world has been made unclear.

However come August 26th, we may not be in the darkness any longer; Level-5 has recently announced that that's the date of their annual 'Vision conference', an event where they provide details of their upcoming games, both announced and unannounced. In previous years they've confirmed titles such as 'Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch' for the Western world at the same type of event, so it's pretty reasonable to assume that 'Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney' is also likely to be announced at this event. Of course it hasn't been confirmed to make an appearance, but this seems likely to be the event it'd be shown at if at all this year, so 'Vision 2013' is definitely an event for us Ace Attorney fans to keep our eyes on.

Really? I thought this was a Japan-centric event... This should be interesting then.

Ditto, but if they announced the Western release of Ni no Kuni at one before, they can do the same with PLvAA.

Anyway, I wonder what they're going to be doing now that Layton is done.

Yeah I thought so too for a while, but the past has evidenced otherwise; besides, I suppose if they can announce Japanese-created games at the very Western E3, it makes a sort of sense that they could also announce English releases at a Japanese conference :phoenix: In any case, I for one am having high hopes for PLvsAA details; I'm REALLY hoping it'll come sooner then later -i.e this year- but we'll just have to wait and see what happens :garyuu:

That's a good question... beyond a likely Layton Brothers sequel (MAKE IT HAPPEN LEVEL-5! :will: ), I'm not sure what they'd do with the franchise. Perhaps a Layton-esque puzzle-solving spin-off series? I dunno, it has too much of a following for them to just let it end methinks... but crazier things have happened... :yuusaku:

I see what you did there; clever :redd: If something like that WERE to happen, that would be very... interesting, to say the least :minuki:

My guess is that Layton isn't done. I'm sure there will be a Layton #7 out sometime in the near future, since it's making too much money. Even if it is passing the baton to Luke, I'm sure it will happen.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

I honestly expect a Professor Layton 1-3 compilation, on 3DS, with slightly improved graphics, lots of new puzzles and maybe some extra cutscenes and whatnot.
I'm actually surprised they haven't announced one already... even Capcom already did that on smartphones! And I hope they DO announce such a compilation, I finally want to play those games (no buying used or new at 50€+ for me ;)).

That would be cool... I wouldn't be surprised if they did 1-3 this year/early next, 4-7 next year/2 years from now on or so ;)
