Hey :jake:

How y'all doing?

I never get to break news...I'm putting myself out there for a fall if it's already been mentioned...ohgodI'mnervous

Anyway Nintendo's youtube channel has put up the official prologue anime except now it's in my beautiful mother tongue of English.

Things are getting pretty hype. I don't want to start an argument but I like dubs over subs, means I can do something else with my eyes when my ears are covering the job. Plus we get to hear those voice actors earn their pay. Hope nothing too grating shows up.

Enjoy!

Also, Jamieson Price as the narrator/mysterious guy mysteriously standing in the rain. Sweet.

If true that's sweet. He voiced Nier in Nier and that's totally what I picture for this

I can't stand any of the WAA lawyers voices. Especially not Apollo's. Good job with the "chords of steel" when his damn voice cracks. It was nice seeing Simon again.

XD GFM's response is so much yes. I don't really like Sam Reigel as Phoenix. His acting feels forced at some moments. Though I honestly think it's a step up from DD, to say the least.

Simon...was honestly kind of a disappointment. I cringed when I heard him. His voice just didn't suit him this time around. :sadshoe:

Nahyuta(sp?) is bae, and shoot me if I ever say that again, but really, I felt like he was on point!

Yeah, I don't really like the lack of an ambitious voice cast tbh. These actors are the most predictable anime voice-cast there is, except I kinda like Orion, if only he could actually scream like Apollo should be able to. Half the time it feels like they're not into it. Luckily Nahyuta's is fine and I sorta like the "narrator" as well but they're not exactly being put to the test here. I can't help but feel they aren't going out of their way to make a localized dub. Instead they're trying to give Athena a high-pitched baby voice to mimic her japanese actor and the same with the rest, except Blackquill I think, but they all sound less enthusiastic.
I was generally okay with Phoenix here over any DD cutscene though. Still think Riegel is a terrible Nick in terms of voice though.

It really feels weird when Apollo and Phoenix object back-to-back in DD. It sounds like their voices should be switched. Personally I think Trevor White (Phoenix's VA in PLvsPW) is the best Phoenix. I don't know if he could do an older Phoenix, though.

I'm sure you've noticed that in AJ Apollo's voice was described as screechy and cracking, but in DD it's described as a booming voice (and he sounds older than Phoenix).

Athena... she has a good "Hold it!"

Proof that his workouts paid off. (Wasn't it screechy because he'd been practising the entire night before, though?)
