Why aren't there many heterosexual and PW3 fics?Topic%20Title

Apparently most fics are homosexual (ugh- no offense though) and there aren't many PW3 stories. I would prefer heterosexual stories over homosexual stories and a good case story above all other genres. So I was wondering if anyone would want to write any heterosexual stories?

Who's with me on this one?

Uhh...I don't think stories can really have a sexual orientation, or even a gender for that matter....

It's an issue with the authors. There's nothing any one person can do to fix it other then write some their own.

I find this topic very interesting, considering if you look at the results of the poll I just posted on the main site, You can see that in CR's fan population there are more people that support Phoenix/Maya, Diego/Mia, and even Gumshoe/Maggey than any yaoi or yuri couple. I suspect that's because even though 60% to 70% of CR's fans are male (by our last cout), fandom itself has shown time and time again that it's women who are more likely to write fanfiction. And there are a lot of women who like slash. :keiko:

However, there are several Phoenix/Maya fics in the fanfic section here on CR (Present Testimony). I suggest you peek there. I know the author Pyrasaur does some great Edgeworth/Mia stuff, and other pairings. There's even a few het fics in my thread! (no wai! :beef: )

As for the rest of your comments, there aren't many PW3 fics because the game only came out with English less than a week ago. Most people haven't played it yet, let alone had time to write about it. And fics that include original cases are REALLY HARD. That's why you don't see many of those.

Yeah I see your point...Also the fact the many people have a better interest in the older ones... or maybe...I too dislike the Yao/Yuri stuff... so is this topic finished now?

No. Because I hate you all. :godot:

Actually, I ship more m/f couples in GS than I do m/m, but it's harder to write about them for some reason. It might be timeline issues or a lack of good, solid plot ideas. But, I mean, I'm not going to write het for the sake of het. If I write, I want it to be as high quality and interesting as possible, not just because people demand "more het".

As far as case-fics go, they're a bitch to plot, but strangely rewarding when everything comes together. But I can see why a lot of people don't, it's time consuming and can be very frustrating. (LOL three hours hashing out a tiny, tiny plot point!) I also don't understand why it has to be one of the other. I can write a m/m fic with cases in it, you know. :yogi:

I think that there's a lot that can be done with the het pairings in PW - the character relationships are so intricate that you can read and interpret however you wish. I don't think any pairing is truly impossible in this fandom for that reason. However, it takes skill to pull off a fanfic for a pairing without wrecking it. There's so much bad stuff out there but in amongst it you find the occasional gem. If you like Phoenix-Maya fics you should check out LySs' unfinished fic in Present Testimony, it's adorable :D

As for original case fics, they are hard to write - really hard (I'm wrestling with one at the moment) - even if you've got all the details worked out, you have to present it in such a way as to unlock each fragment of information piece by piece during the course of the trial, investigation or whatever format you've picked. When you're holding all the details in your head, that's really hard to do.

Also, because the trials are so dialogue-heavy it can make the courtroom scenes really difficult to write - as a writer you have to have a real feel for the characters and their speech to be able to pull it off. That's why so many writers prefer to take the characters outside the courtroom - it's just easier.

homosexual stories can't have good case stories?

why does it matter if it's heterosexual or homosexual if it's got a good case?

You have a phobia about fictional homosexual characters coming to get you?

Being phobic means having an irrational fear. And in this case we're talking about fictional homosexuals.

I find that even less rational than professing a dislike for a sizeable chunk of humanity because one doesn't like what they do in the bedroom. And that's pretty irrational right there.

Okay guys, this is not the place to discuss actual homosexuality.

The truth is there are more PW het fans than there are PW yaoi fans. So if you think there aren't enough het stories, it's simply because those fans are not being inspired to write. That's really all there is to it.

Hrm. I did notice that a lot of fanart/fanfics are edgey-nick related. I don't really support that pairing, but I don't support any straight ones, either.
I can't think of any, sorry.
