GP Asks: What the shist?

Um, I've just recently started having some trouble with the forums. You know how it says who the last poster in a thead is? Well, when I try to click on "View latest post", it takes me to the thread, but there is no post by the apparent latest poster. And, when I go back to the subforum (e.g. Court Docket), the little envelope is still dark orange, indicating that I've not read the last post.

What's up with that?

I have no idea why that happens, but I have the same problem. I noticed it with the Lawyerman Project thread. However, I can read the new posts if I go to "Reply" but they won't appear in the thread itself.

I haven't had that problem but lately the forums have been horribly slow for me...

It seems to be an issue with the forum database itself that's causing the lag. I've been having a few 500 errors over the last couple of days as well, though right now the forum is again behaving.

At its worst earlier I was getting constant time-out errors and pages that take ten seconds to load were taking ten minutes.

Does we even do these things anymore?

As Velo said, it's probably the fault of the forum software, and it might also be related to the database having bogus or corrupt data somewhere around there. Since I hate phpBB so much, it's been several years since I last used it, but I'm almost sure it has somewhere in the Admin panel a DB Maintenance section; Croik or any other admin might want to check there and run a default check on the DB by the forum software, since this can usually solve the problem.
