Thanks to Amazon.co.jp, we finally have the boxart for Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken. Turns out it's using the same artwork as the poster revealed yesterday during the NicoNico livestream.

I like how the official genre for this game is called "Great Court Battle" (The official genre of the series as posed by Capcom has always been "Court Battle").

Ah, the girl in the background on the right side was shown in a preview for the next famitsu report on DGS. I have the feeling she will play a role in all the English cases. Maybe she is like Wiggins?

I absolutely agree, the covers look too similar - immediately jumping to conclusions, I would think that it's basically the same game as the PWvsPL except they gave it a Feudal Japan coat of paint that's peeling in places. I mean, there's a difference between making covers with a similar design choice so that, if it's part of a series or from the same company, you can tell easily without having to look too hard. But this... is just... lazy design choice.

You'd be pretty mistaken then. The circumstances surrounding PWvsPL are so STRANGE that there's no chance of it being the same game.

Also bear in mind this series normally uses the standard of four characters in four "windows" placed horizontally side by side each other for most of it's games except with some new characters added each time. It's par for the course really, I guess part of being a "franchise" is having an established 'look'.

That's true, but those games thankfully all had different primary colors as the background, so it was easy to tell them apart. These two covers look so similar, it took me a second to figure out which one was which. There's no new dynamic, there's nothing that looks different, even the colors are the same muted ones.

It reminds me a bit of this Death Note cover but even that has a big bright color on it and a difference in front- and background that it jumps in your eyes.

I hope what I'm saying is making sense. With the two covers, you have muted colors in the front and more muted colors in the back - there's no difference between what's in the front or the back, it's just one big... blob of muted grayish colors. Nothing that really stands out, that draws your eye to it. Maybe if the girl's kimono's pink was a bit brighter or the front, in general, had slightly more bold colors, there'd be a difference even if it's still the same pose.

Why couldn't we have gotten the boxart to be like in that "olden" style with all the characters? It'd look absolutely amazing. I'm not complaining about the actual boxart - it's gorgeous too - but the prospect is kinda disappointing in hindsight.

No, I think Tiago is referring to Asougi's hand. It's the one wielding his katana.
It's probably just a design choice here, but what if Asougi dies because his arm gets severed...? I should stop having morbid thoughts.

Well, his elbow wouldn't be so close to his wrist, but yeah, it's like that. I still say the sword seems to be pointing behind them, but it does make him look like he's trying to hug those two in front ~~saying "Yo, my Yuumei homies!"~~
