Why is Takumi busying himself with a spin-off rather than handling the main series? He's just so talented I can't believe he didn't handle ALL of the AA games. I mean I do understand that would make him too busy but I just love the guy so much.

Ghost Trick is a God tier game.

If you read some of Takumi's interviews, it's easy to see that he's the kind of guy that likes experimenting and doing new things, rather than sticking with the same format for a long time. So the reason he's not in charge of the main series anymore is probably as simple as 'he doesn't want to'.

Not to mention that they are literally doing two games simultaneously, staggered to come out about a year apart. One person with the main vision usually can't work on two games at the same time, otherwise the quality will suffer (see: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax's story mode, where they had to get additional writers to fill the gaps and many overarching plot points were just muddled in the process).

Not to say it would be impossible for one person to do it, but Takumi certainly does not seem the type who can multitask effectively. He's someone who focuses hard on one game to make it the best it can be.

He's also stated in an interview that he's a guy who likes to work and make the stories by himself, so there's that.

Franzy uses "baka"? Oh boy, the image this creates.

So, who is voicing the new girl? I'd say she sounds familiar, but my knowledge of VAs in general is terribly lacking.

Well, I've found the video is now uploaded onto Nico Douga, and the tags suggest it may be Saori Hayami after all. Could someone confirm this?

They are Japanese in the source but lived abroad, so Mei actually was not born in Japan. It is implied that she studied up on the Japanese judicial system during that time when her father took Mitsurugi with him back to Japan, but considering that GK1 made it so she went with them to Japan in time for his supposed "first" case, I'm not sure what time period she actually studied the Japanese judicial system to be able to stand in court by GS2. Perhaps after that case, her father sent her back home to study up while Mitsurugi stayed around and built up an evil reputation for himself?

GK1-4 makes it clear that she is already studying, especially with Mile's remark about dodging the exam.

Maybe I'm missing some facts, but as far as I know, it's stated in the Japanese games that Franziska was born and raised in America, but nothing is ever said about Manfred; he may have never been there at all.

I've always assumed Franziska started studying for Japanese courts after Edgeworth's disappearance, and that was the reason it took her several months to start prosecuting in Japan, though now that I look at the dates, it would have taken less than 4 months... but then again, the judicial system in the AA world is weird. I just find it unlikely that she would have studied Japanese law beforehand if she started her career in America, and went back to America after GS2. It seems to me that she intended to build a career there.
