Stuff like Maya and Nick walking up the court steps, or just the main characters in general being crowded by paparazzi - it adds a realistic touch to how major cases like these would be to the media despite the fact that they are still acknowledging this is an unrealistic and cartoony universe.

If this trailer is anything to go by, I love what they are doing, with the evidence presenting, the channeling, the crowd up there doing nothing, the investigation-cop scenes, the fact that Phoenix and Edgey's voices are even similar to their voice clips, everything! I mean, I just gave the Judge a short glance when he appeared in the background and I already laughed. And the trailer's full of epic scenes, like the Edgey-Nick literal face-off, Phoenix walking up the court's staircase with lots of people watching him... It's like they're trying to add background realism to the over-the-top style of the AA games, but making sure that realism never overlaps the campy AA style.
Also, has anyone else noticed how the movie's incorporating elements from the entire first game? In order of appearance, there's Karma (1-4), blood writing as evidence (1-2, 1-5), Nick and Maya at what seems to be Gourd Lake (1-4), Nick holding what seems to be a receipt (1-2), Mia being alive (1-1), freakin' DL-6 (1-4), Gourd Lake boat scene (1-4), the Blue Badger (1-5), scene from Mia's murder with lamp breaking and everything (1-2), Maya channeling Mia (1-2 onward), Yogi's shack (1-4), Lotta (1-4), Dee (1-3, only reference to it I've spotted)... There's also Maya and Mia as kids, which could be just a regular flashback and not necessarily means a reference to JFA or T&T. If I were to make a guess, I'd say the movie'll practically ignore 1-1, 1-3 and 1-5, but adding elements and references from them, and its plot will try to link 1-2 and 1-4, and of course DL-6. The question is, will they respect game canon to achieve this? Or will they make plot points up, like maybe creating a relation between Mia's murderer (who may or may not be Redd White) and Karma/DL-6? If it's the latter, could Redd White finally become the villain he deserves to be after killing a chatacter so important to the games' story?
God, I can't wait for this movie to get a DVD release already so we can sub the hell out of it.

Mia's death looks great and the channeling as well.
I really can't wait for this. If America plans to dub this like what they did with Death Note's Live Action if I'm correct, I wonder if they'll use the names in the English Adaptation?

There isn't really any 1-5. The blood-writing says "Mayoi" (Maya's Japanese name), so it's definitely the 1-2 blood. And that blue badger is a guy in a costume, not the cardboard cutout from 1-5; considering how big the blue badger's become, it seems more like a reference to the blue badger in the series as a whole than to 1-5 to me.
It seems like the movie will be 1-2, 1-4, and an original case (with Dee?); perhaps they'll have the original case first, so that Mia can have some screentime alive? But those two cases are really the most important part of the first game, so... yay :3

This is exactly what I thought...the movie probably will not be longer than two hours and a half, squeeze everything so it can be fitted into one movie sounds like a creepy idea. But if they can somehow change the script in a reasonable way it may not be that bad
BTW I don't really think the 1-5 case will be in the movie as well, especially to the Japanese players that case is more like a sequel rather than a part of AA.

Yes that is the receipt which reads out "MAYOI" which is Maya's Japanese name. The cast is perfect, Maya and Mia look wonderful... the judge looks absolutely hilarious, Manfred could be a bit skinnier but the cast looks great

Yes, Maya looks kinda off to me too.. The bangs make her look like she just had a bad haircut. And not to mention the fur coat makes her look... Like rich middle-aged woman
I have no idea about the extra woman though. My bet's on the original case.

but you never know might be some different interpretation of the case and she's alive or its an important flashback for some reason (or just for show saying OH HAY DOESN'T SHE LOOK FAMILIAR and *plop* on movie poster even though she might not be important)
I mean she definitely has to be at least some actual character from the canon, but she's just differnet looking from her actual counterpart for some reason than what was expected. I mean look at Gumshoe.

The target audience, as Velotix Lexovetikan mentioned is in Japan. IF we're lucky someone will localize the movie 8-14 months later for US audiences, which begs the question of who do you ask to voice everyone.
...That's a whole other arguement we'll save for another time, though xD
Of course if you don't care for dubs just buy the movie when it's released in Japan on DVD.

just wondering though, so the movie comes out in japan in february but is it looking to a worldwide release? i can't somehow imagine it screening anywhere in england down the local cinema... hoping there will be some subtitled versions online or a quick release to dvd. likely?
I don't want an AA1 2 scenario where i know it's out there but i can't get to it 
oh and even though i think the actors all look brilliant (minus the strange wigs haha) why does maya look so serious in every shot?
