Luke: "...It's really isn't over, huh?"
"This time, it's rather strange, given how rough that was."
Layton: "Indeed, Luke."
"But now the passing showers have abated, so you can relax."
Luke: "I just want it to be over... especially the lightning."
Layton: "Hahaha. You aren't very good with lightning, are you?"
Luke: "It's not like that. I'm not a kid anymore."
"But... I just don't like how the sudden flashes shock me."
~
"Use the magnifying glass to investigate the area. It is automatically displayed on the screen."
"Tap and slide the stylus to move the glass. It's like drawing a line."
"When you move the glass, it may turn orange at some points."
"Once you've highlighted it, lightly tap the lower screen."
"Then, you can investigate that point."
"Other than important information, you may find a hidden 'puzzle' or 'hint coin'."
"You can use hint coins for difficult puzzles if you need."
"Now, let's get started."
Luke: "'Slide the stylus to move', 'lightly tap the lower screen to investigate'..."
"If you use these tactics, you can find interesting places to look."
"Okay, let's search through the 'bookshelves'!"
Layton: "The rain has stopped, but the weather isn't fine yet."
Luke: "Professor, the red tea you've just made smells really good."
Luke: "This is... a picture book, isn't it?"
"Heh, that's funny. The professor has picture books... huh?"
Layton: "I see you've found it, Luke. Yes, that picture book is a book of challenging 'puzzles'."
Luke: "There's a puzzle hidden in the book. That's Professor Layton for you."
Layton: "Well, Luke, will you solve this puzzle?"
Luke: "Of course I'll solve it! I'm the professor's number one apprentice, after all!"
Layton: "Haha. Fired up for a bit, aren't you? But, today is a special day where we don't have much time."
"If you have trouble with the puzzle, you can ask for 'hints'."
"Of the four hints, the last one is a Special Hint. You can find details close to the solution."
"U-understood! I'll try it if I'm having trouble!"
Puzzle 01: The Witches' Puzzle
A black witch and a white witch need to find paths back to their matching-colored castles.
To create their paths on the grid, touch the horizontal lines between columns to make them appear or disappear. Connect the matching colors,
but be careful with which lines you remove!
(The text on the top screen says about the same directions.)

Mahone: "I am a 'witch'."
Layton: "...!"
Luke: "Eeeh!?"
Layton: "A 'witch'... you say...?"
Mahone: "...Yes. It's quite a frightening existence."
"I've somehow fled here..."
"But... the other witches are still chasing me..."
Luke: "A w-'witch'...?"
Layton: "I see. I'll protect you to the best of my ability."
Mahone: "Oh... thank you!"
Layton: "I simply cannot overlook a young lady in need."
"...That is the way of an English gentleman."
Layton: "Though I've suddenly come to trust you, the truth is that I take a deep interest in your situation."
Luke: "Huh? You, do you want shelter from the rain?"
Mahone: "Please don't!"
Luke: "Professor... just what was...!"
Layton: "That was... a 'witch'...!"
~
Layton: "...Well, as far as we've come, we can't go any further."
Luke: "...Eh? What do you mean, Professor?"
Layton: "This is the end of this playable 'demo'."
"The story will continue... in the 'final release'. Please look forward to it."
"For now... if you have the time,"
"You may try the 'Trial Part Demo'."
"It's likely you may enjoy playing as the gallant gentleman, Mr. Wright."
Luke: "Hmm. It's too bad the demo is already over."
"November 29th is the release date. I'll look forward to it, Professor!"
"Indeed, Luke."
Layton: "Everyone, I hope to see you again soon!"

Trial Part

"W-what? Is someone there?"
"Please stop it, okay?"
"What are you doing there...!"
~
"Pleased to meet you."
"I am Jordalla, a teacher from the Stella All-girls Boarding School."
"Mahone, your defense attorney."
"...It's a pleasure to meet you."

BEGIN TESTIMONY
-Last Night's Patrol-
Gardner: "That night... by protocol, I was patrolling around at too-too-twen-o."
"Then, a strange noise from the storeroom came knocking against my ear."
"I rushed over... but that mere 1 second wasn't enough for me to stop that woman's murder."
"The next moment, I, Utrino Gardner, had the criminal secured!"
"And then, the next moment. I already confirmed that nothing else at the crime scene was suspicious!"
Wright: "(So, the testimony ends there...)"
Maya: "If Mr. Gardner's testimony is true, then Mahone is 'guilty' for sure..."
Wright: "Well... if it was just Mahone by herself, the crime is pretty straightforward."
Maya: "Yeah, it is."
Wright: "But... that witness, how did he get 'caught up' in that?"
Maya: "Then, like we always do, let's 'press' him!"
Wright: "'Press'..."
Maya: "If you touch the 'press' button, you'll get deeper in the testimony."
"Press vigorously and brilliantly, and you'll dig out the truth!"
Wright: "(The 'press' button, huh... Alright, let's do this!)"
HOLD IT!
Wright: "...Um, what do you mean by 'too-too-twen-o'?"
Gardner: "Ah, excuse me! I didn't mean to use professional terms."
"That, sir, is our special code. You see, it must have just slipped out at that moment!"
Wright: "(How very delightful...)"
Gardner: "'too-too-twen-o' is '22:20'... or 10:20 at night!"
Wright: "10:20... that's about halfway between the hours."
Gardner: "...Yes, I always watch TV in the security room, and that was the time when I stopped."
Wright: "Eh, TV?"
Gardner: "Regulations state, patrols must last 10 minutes. To act on the spur of the moment is the way of professionals!"
Wright: "(...Talk about lax, these 'professionals'...)"
Gardner: "Anyway, on that night by protocol, I patrolled onboard!"
Bartley: "Is it alright with you, Your Honor?"
Judge: "What is it, Mr. Bartley?"
Bartley: "Here is a photo of the crime scene. Please add it to the record."
"Inside this storeroom, the defendant and a sailor had fought... is that right, witness?"
Gardner: "Yes, sir! There, right under the emergency light!"
Judge: "Hm... from those broken crates, that's quite a lot that spilled out."
Bartley: "Obviously, it's because of the defendant swinging that iron pipe around."
"By the way, the toys that spilled out are known as 'Mr. Blue Badger'." *
Judge: "...I see. The court accepts this photo into evidence."
"Crime Scene Photo" has been added to the Court Record.
- A photo of the crime scene, in the storeroom. Touch the 'check' button for details.

Layton: "Alright, let's go. ...Mr. Wright!"
"In this world, there is no puzzle that cannot be solved."
"No puzzle is to be left unsolved."
"...That is the way of an English gentleman."
Maya: "Whoa, from the beginning, his signature quotes are a hit parade!"
Wright: "(Seems like his 'big moment' completely raised the tension in here.)"
Layton: "...Mr. Guardsman."
"In your testimony lies a hidden 'puzzle'. Without a doubt, I will solve it."
"...On the release date!"
Maya: "...You accidentally let him say it, didn't you, Nick?"
Wright: "...Yep, I did, Maya..."

*That settles it. Anything with 'mister' in this game means it's English-speak.
