Well, I just ordered my 3DS last night. If I knew that was all it took I would have bought one ages ago.

Sorry, C-R, won't let it happen again.

So goddamned excited. Don't even care that this will happen around the same time as my mid-terms. It will just be good to at least play the game on the train.

Thing is, the hardcore Pokémon fans would have most likely completed the main story, and explored most of the post game stuff within the first week of release. Considering the age rating is 16+, the game is going for an older demographic, one that consists of people who have some form of income, which won't prevent them from purchasing.

Also, i know all Ace Attorney fans will day 1 buy this, so it will do just fine :hobohodo:

Funnily enough, DD got the same rating as Pokemon here in Australia. Actually, Australia gave DD an even lower rating than Japan did! I'm not entirely sure why: I guess we consider gore less of a big deal if it isn't inflicted by the player interactively. That's my guess. Our rating system is weird, some things get off easy while things like "references to sexual violence" (yes, references, nothing explicit or on-screen, even if the rest of the game is perfectly tame) are sometimes grounds for an instant 18+ rating.
Something something please localize DGS.

October 24th, eh?

Probably won't see me much around these here parts after that.

At least until I've completed it and can avoid spoilers.

As excited as I am that the game has a release date, I just wish they didn't pick such a heavy release period for AA5.

Pokémon aside, you have several other games being released the same time frame as AA5; Sonic Lost World, Batman: Arkham Origins and Assassin's Creed IV, just to name a few. Granted some of them come out a few days after AA5 and on other consoles to boot, but aside from the diehard AA fans, I can't say our little title that could can compete with the big names out there for the hard-earned dollars of casual gamers.

Though I will say, I hope I'm wrong and it does really well.

This is great, and earlier than I expected. I've been asking for a release date for months, and I'm more than satisfied with the answer. So no one should take my jumping straight into another nitpick as not being satisfied.

Having said that, I noticed there's no mention of a release date for the DLC case. As someone who wanted to play the case in between 2 and 3, I am hoping that it will be day one DLC. Now, as long as it comes out by November 18,19, etc. I should be fine, since due to school work I'm a little behind on my AA marathon (I'm just starting Justice for All. In fact, if the full 5 case fan translation for GK2 somehow miraculously comes out by that time, I might just wait and play it instead of the Japanese version.) But if the DLC doesn't come out until next year or something it's going to be annoying.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

Releasing after Pokemon X/Y does make sense in one regard...a lot of people are buying a 3DS just for that. And every new 3DS owner = new possible AA5 owner. Hopefully this outweighs people being distracted/out of money.

Literally cannot wait for the next month to go by!

Except the problem with that is the new 2DS, which will come out with Pokemon X/Y, is aimed at children. Not exactly people who will play an M rated game... But I think it will bring many new people to the 3DS world and hopefully, in the long run, bringing more fans to AA.

I hope you aren't saying that all Pokémon fans are under 7... (i have a feeling you aren't :hotti: )

There will be plenty of fans of all ages purchasing a 3ds or 2ds for Pokémon, and both owners will be exposed to Dual Destinies.

By the way, i queried Neil Gorton (Capcom UK Community guy) if DD will be a midnight release or just go along with the usual Thursday update time (like, 2/3pm in the UK...) He said he would ask Nintendo UK, so let's see what happens!

I doubt that it would be a midnight release since IIRC most if not all of the midnight releases have been either first party Nintendo games or games made by third party developers using Nintendo's properties (Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon made by Next Level Games etc). Most other digital games are usually released the day the physical copy comes out at 12:00 PM EST and while there is not a physical release here I think a 12:00 release is the most likely case here.

So hyped right now. *did not check C-R yesterday*

12PM EST, you say? Very well. I will start checking the eShop starting at 9PM on October 23, then, and bring my 3DS to school in the near future to see if the eShop is accessible from there, in case the game isn't available until I'm already at school (which is where I'll be stuck for about... seven and a half hours)!

Meanwhile, I really need to beat JFA and AAI

Wow, a lot of people seem to buying a 3ds lately. I thought a lot of people bought it when PLvsAA was announced in 2012. (Note to self: Buy games when their English trailers get released.)

So this is actually one of the rare cases when I wish the game was released later. As pumped as I am for the release being just a month away, I scheduled a week to conduct my own research for a school project on the 24th. Now I'm not going to get any work done now.

Well, since the game's gonna be digital only. I don't have to worry getting it on day 1, all I need is to buy a prepaid card and get it on the eshop on day 1.

Speaking of the eshop, Nintendo didn't advertise Dual Destinies in the eshop. (Nor they did it when the Nintendo direct was being held, the only PW related content was PLvsAA.)

I'm guessing we will see it in the next Nintendo Direct/whatever Nintendo direct is closest to DD's release. However, I doubt there will be much advertisement for it. We'll just have to wait and see if it sells well.

I'm hoping that they will announce a release date for the DLC case soon, but as long as its out before next year I have no problem.

I suspect there will be a Nintendo Direct on the 1st or 2nd week of October. If Dual Destinies is not in it, that will be very bad... bad for sales that is.

PL vs PW was also announced in 2010 I think, or 2011.

Isn't the DLC Case where the costumes are? I wanted to play it with the costumes ON.

There are actually three different pieces of DLC: There's the costume DLC, which includes the three alternate costumes for the main characters, and that's it then there's the quiz DLC, which included another costume as well as a little mini-game, and the DLC case, which didn't include new costumes but included a full, canon case. The Quiz DLC isn't coming over here (although they've hinted they're going to release the costume from it here) but the other two are; how they package them and when it the question.

I personally don't care about the costumes, although I'd buy them anyway to support the series. I do care A LOT about the DLC case, though.

Costumes apply to anything with their models in the game; main cases, DLC case, DLC quiz, and excluding animated sequences. Of course, if the quiz isn't coming over here, I suppose the costume you can win from the completing all the quizzes will be packaged with the other costumes.

I am not surprised about that. Nintendo has a much closer relationship with Level 5 and has published each of the games in the main Layton series so it makes sense that they would be more likely to advertise games in the Layton franchise than Ace Attorney.

Let's correct this statement. Nintendo of JP and Capcom of JP has a good relationship, but not in the west.

And don't worry, it will be advertised in the eShop prior to it's release I think. They regularily add big download-only games a week before launch and sends notifications from the eShop to the 3DS' sleep mode where they inform people of the new incoming download. I personally ended up downloading several titles spontanously when a new game popped up and a lot of their download-only games like Pushmo and Freakyforms have great sales. ...but otherwise I don't think Capcom is planning to do more public advertisement, and that's gonna sting.

AA5 is in the eShop now (as coming soon), actually, but you can only find it via the search.

I wouldn't expect Capcom to advertise the game via Spotpass, because I don't recall non-first party titles ever doing that. But I'd hope the game would be, say, second on the home page list for a little while (not first because Pokemon X/Y will definitely be first for a while).

US. Apparently it isn't in EU yet.

That doesn't really mean anything, of course. Even the US entry seems to be a slight rush job because the title is improperly formatted so it's three lines and outside the area it should be.

I saw it today. Basically the only thing you can do is put it on your wishlist, although you can look at some not-in-3D fullscreen screenshots that frame it exactly how it will appear in the final game - from these I'm getting really excited about how the game will look in motion.

Oh and one more thing, the text box only can fit two lines now. (It was 3 lines in the previous games.) Is that because of how the 3DS's screen is wider than the DS?

During Roland's final breakdown with the automatically scrolling text, there's a moment where I think she's talking about Dogen and says "had he" while it should be "he had." Pretty minor, but it stood out since it was during such an important scene.

Just finished Case 2, and like I said earlier, aside from a few minor typos you all did an amazing job and the translation and localization are top-notch. Thank you to everyone involved and I'm now impatiently awaiting the rest of the cases!
