Oh my goodness, Larry. I don't wanna get that look from someone ever. Especially not someone running/floating past me like... What... *hides in a corner* :larry:

(Yeah, a Larry-smiley expressing my feelings about the picture of Larry. How ironic. Ha-ha.)

isn't that part of her appeal?

What the hell exactly are you implying?

That the new illustration doesn't capture the feel of the original character.

Completely agree, but IMO the problem is simply that Iwamoto's Maya looks completely off to me. It looks like Kay Faraday cosplaying as her or something.

Also, Maya, Edgeworth and all other GS1 characters were not drawn by Iwamoto originally. They were made by Kumiko Suekane who left during the development of JFA.

Unlike in your case, I actually do prefer the newer designs and what pains me is that character sprites aren't remade completely. ^^; You know, more of a look they have in the PLvsPWAA, for example.

The only ones that really jumped in front of my sight were Nick and Maya. Nick is... passable in the new redesigns but Maya just... doesn't look like Maya to me. The artstyle of PLvsPWAA got her look down much better IMO. All the other redesigns here look great though.

And I also agree with you, the most annoying thing is that the in-game sprites are your typical Capcom upscaled and digitally redrawn stuff. They look amateurish and they even have less frames of animations than the original ones. Was it too much to get Iwamoto or someone else to remake the sprites from the ground up? They definitely kept their budget to a minimum with the 3DS rerelease, it seems.

Yeah. The 2D sprites had a lot of charm to them. These new ones look like crap

Eh, they look okay. Much better than the iOS ones (the trilogy release. People seem to forgot the original was a great port) where it was just completely lazy and Maya's hair went behind her eyeballs

I think the new Maya looks fine here, expect I do agree that her designs were better in PLvAA; they did a great job of keeping enough of the old look. :maya:

Everyone else looks great, except I thought Mia looked weird for some reason. She looks fine on the main webpage game release poster though...
Mr. Edgeworth, do you realize if we played by the rules, we'd be in court right now?

Franziska and Godot look exactly like they should, but that should be obvious because Iwamoto created their designs in the first place. But as with how he redrew Mia on the Defence Bench in T&T, his reworks of old stuff in AAI and now this I must say, I'm not really a fan of Iwamoto's style. In a sense I find it to be too detailed and especially the way he draws hair is overdone IMO. Maya lacks her characteristic space and then middle hair section and her eyes just look Kay to me.

I think even though he got a "low mouth" in DD, Edgeworth had a way better redesign by Takuro Fuse who drew for Dual Destinies as a lead art designer, than Iwamoto's.

But again, Godot and Franzy are awesome... Larry is good enough for me too, but the rest lack the charm.

I went there, watched some videos, and I'm really surprised as well as disappointed to see 2-framers again...

C'mon, Oldbag of all people has better speaking animation than Godot xD

Ahaha Oldbag was actually rather cute xD Except for her smug face where her eyes... well... windy.

Also, the Judge's shocked face looks horrible.

Overall, I didn't really like the changes to the judge's appearance... it also seems like he takes up too much space on the screen.
