It's quite possible that those screenshots are of her channeling someone too, so any details of her face being different there could easily be that of who she's channeling.

She didn't really got more development than, say, Edgeworth in the first game, just a lot more of screen-time. And there's plenty of things we don't know about her. We don't know how she met Nick, why she's changed so much since she was a kid or if there's more to her hearing than what we know, so there's plenty of room for development if the writers feel like it. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

- I love that Phoenix is back and I really hope this also means that Athena won't be back. (I wouldn't have hated her as a witness or something, but as an attorney -- a semi-protagonist -- she was too dominant)
- I hope this all means Maya is back, but at the same time, if they do bring her back, I hope they don't butcher her character. I'd rather her be a character who we never see again and ended on a high note than a character who returns and is nothing like she was
- I also notice the change in Phoenix, and I am not sure how to feel about that. He seems more... slick, if that's the right word. If it wasn't for the hair and the outfit, I am not even sure if I'd recognize the face or body shape like this
- I'm glad they listened to feedback on DD. I don't want to be spoonfed the answers anymore, so I hope that's out!

I don't think Nick will truly solo it. If anyone still thinks there's going to be more than one assistant-lite case per game, then they aren't thinking trilogically!
It's possible that AA6 won't be featuring Apollo and Athena as much as AA5 did, not only because AA5 had to serve as a practical reintroduction of the series to a new generation, on a new gaming system, and after a relatively long hiatus (just like, say, Street Fighter 4 effectively evolved into a Dream Match game by USF4, and for the exact same reasons too + the usual competitive ones), but because it's highly likely that the family stories aren't going to properly unfold before the finale of AA7! It's just how trilogies work, and it'd be a healthy parallel to T&T!
Now, if we were to follow that line of logic, AA6 could resemble JFA in the following respects:
- greater involvement of magatama action (confirmed!);
- return of some of the old favourites from JFA that could be story-relevant (Maya, Franziska);
- an overall different feeling of the stories as a contrast which prepares the big fat resolution of nigh-everything at the end of the next game.
On top of all of this, there are many more significant characters to utilize now compared to back then, so Shi-Long Lang appearing with Franzy, as well as Apollo and Athena (and Trucy, why not) traveling and showing up in the new court abroad to help out Phoenix when the situation is most dire for him... we could have all of these things, and I'd certainly like that very much.

Yeah, but the real question here is 'Is Yamazaki thinking trilogically or is he going to make each installment its own thing?' Because I just fail to see how Phoenix traveling around the world improving the legal system of mysterious countries could be related in any way to anything in DD.

I guess we should also really throw Phoenix out of the story. If we go by character arcs, he's had two by now and that's really enough. Three, if we count 1-4 as a finale in its original purpose. The first three games were about him becoming a decent lawyer, then AJ and DD showed him losing his standing as a lawyer and re-obtaining. So yeah, Phoenix? Needs to be the opposite of his name and disappear.

Looking at the story more, I have the feeling that... well, this whole Mirror and spirits thing is gonna backfire horribly. Not in the means of "This makes no sense" (because, really, not much in this series makes sense to begin with) but in the means of "Oh, you fucked this up". Like, they put more emphasis on oracles and spirits again, like with the Fey clan and channeling, and it'll just look like... a really, really bad representation of something that actually exists in the real world, but like you're taking the piss out of it.
Why can't we have a Jury system as I mentioned? With a story of a manipulator among the jury? And morals and prejudices among the jury, which would makes it more difficult or easy for the player to make them see the defense's side of things and win a case? Not to toot my own horn but that sounds like a really fun mechanic for a game!

You mean to tell me the new country in AA6 won't be the only new one?
Also, it doesn't have to be directly connected to DD, that's the gist of it. That's the difference from the original trilogy I was talking about. Like in a well-developed sonata cycle, the diametrically different themes can be explored in the first two movements, then be contrapuntally combined in the finale, with or without another brand new theme! For this (possible) trilogy, those themes could be the Cykes family, the spirit medium society, and the Gramarye family, with the Dark Age of the Law still underlying it all.

I fail to see the issue with that. After all, isn't the reason most people even TRY a new game because just looking or hearing about it made it seem interesting enough to try out? I mean, I'm not that huge of a Yoshi fan, but I never had an interest in Yoshi's New World. Just, from the name, to the gameplay I witnessed, it didn't seem like I'd enjoy the game. Look at the other one: Yoshi's Wooly World. Have yet to play the game, but what little I saw of the game before a Let's Play, I decided I want to play it. Looks fun, I like the aspect of unlocking Yoshi patterns...

Yes, of course, but first of all the reason that this is a new game in a series we all like should be enough for starters. Although I don't know if YOU actually like the Ace Attorney series. I don't think you ever wrote something positive about any AA game.
Otherwise we of course don't have enough info to really get a clear picture of the game as of yet. We barely know anything and people are already jumping to conclusions everywhere.

I think the trilogy-format was already mostly broken with AA5 discarding so many threads from AJAA. Who knows? Maybe future stuff will reveal more returning characters.

Okay. I'm starting to think I should just preface any and all new game announcements with this, but negativity about the game should not translate to negativity about your fellow posters. People have differing opinions. We're here to talk about them! That's what a forum is for. We are not here to start putting each other down because we disagree about a videogame.

Not necessarily. I'm a huge fan of the Tales Of series, as well as Final Fantasy or Legend of Zelda. News of new games in that series? Well, out of the recent ones, here's my reaction...

Well, I will say, I ALWAYS jump to conclusions with new things - mostly cause I can recognize patterns so well, I predict spoilers and plot twists before they are even mentioned to be plot twists. But this is part of the "first impressions" thing. It happens, you can't help it. We go by what we have now and we can say it sounds good already or like it needs more info/some major improvement.

I haven't read the first post nor do I plan to. Call me naive, but I don't want to know anything about this game. I'll wait until it comes out, play it, and reserve my judgement for then. All I can say is I enjoyed DD, which I thought was better than AJ, which was Takumi's last game, so I'm going into this new game with a little bit of hope that it'll turn out good.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.
