EDIT: Disregard! I've got what I need.

Our pal Invertigo just gave me a bunch of AJ rips, so over the next several days expect to see a lot of graphics updates, including game-accurate animations and updated sheets. Remember how we couldn't get all of them because of the witness stand being in the way? No longer a problem!

Speaking of sprites, I hope you're still working on your Sprite Cup entry! The deadline is just about a month away now, so there's still penty of time to enter. If you haven't been around in a while and don't know what I'm talking about, take a peek at the contest page for details.

Hey you read my email apparently ^^

This is great news for me since I love to make my own cases with Case Maker and I've used almost every possible character but AJ characters since they haven't been working correctly. Too bad I can't be any help for you guys, but I promise I'll worship everyone who'll help to fix the sprites :)

*off-topic* People are STILL using Case Maker? :beef: *hypocrite*

That aside, I might be able to help. Especially with...

with... the 4-3 characters.

I'm not doing it just for the sake of case makers, I'm trying to get them consistent to the first trilogy sprites, which were direct rips. When Kenji comes out I'd like to cap them the same way.

I can't get the screenshots, but I CAN use GIMP and make the image files... would that be acceptable? (Youtube has all the cases of AJ:AA already uploaded by fellow gamers, so I can use them as grainy references, to make my own clear images! :larry2:

Well not exactly FIXING, but most of the non-talking sprites are missing.

The still frames of that particular sprite are on Kristoph's spoiler sheet. I can add an animated version when I update his sprites later tonight.

Perceive sprites are definately ripable, but when I tried it it took me almost 6 hours to get one full image (because the perceive eye is so small). I hear there are emulators now that can remove layers on the DS to make capping easier, but my computer can't run them. If I can figure out a more effective way of grabbing the perceive sprites I'll definately get them, but for now I'm not working on it.

Godot's non-talking sprites are just single frames, since he doesn't blink, but if you reallllly want them on there...

What I need is pixel-perfect screenshots. If they're just approximations that defeats the point. But thanks for offering.

I have zips of Apollo, Klavier, and Phoenix, which I'll update later tonight, along with any others if I have them ready.

Hmm...I've never even paid attention to the blinking, so that's I was confused about why Godot was the only one without "normal animation".

Just copy and paste into Paint, no more talking!

Anyway, this sounds pretty cool. I can't help, but I CAN tell you that Klavier's third-last spoiler sprite has a slight graphic glitch with is hand, you should be able to tell without me explaining further.

On kind of the same theme, is it possible to rip the "swirly percieve background" that appears once you've found their habit?

Say no more. Names?
If not, I could very well use No$GBA. You tell me :D

EDIT: Oh and, NinjaMonkey, it IS possible, but I don't know how many sheets it would take :P But I could rip them, I ripped (not too well but bleh) the "Gotcha!" bubble you see as a smilie, and I could use some work with sprites :\

That doesn't help when it comes to the witness stand and the perceive background, though.

The perceive background is made up of about 50 frames or so, as near as I was able to cap it. Unfortunately my caps all have a Trucy-shaped void in the middle. I think if you were able to cap it from several different characters you might be able to end up with a full rip, but it would be reallly time consuming.

However, I did get a PM from Invertigo not long after making my news post, who said he might be able to help us out with rips, so I'm holding back a little on my updating.

What you could is just make the Witness Stand Sprite a 'transparent' image. As long as you know the location it is stored in the rom. I manage it to do it in PW1.

If only my Save DS Extractor worked on ****ing Vista. I could get to the certain parts, extract the save, convert it to work on no$gba (or iDeas) and take a screenshot. Trust my Dad to have taken the Laptop to Canada.

Quite possible. Observe:
Spoiler: 4-4
In the ROM, perceive sprites are stored in separate pieces. First, the hand itself:

Image
Animated bits like these are drawn on top on top of a large, static image of a character. There are usually a few of these still shots, one for each pose. Here is the one of Kristoph that goes underneath the animated hand:

Image

Note the faint Blue Badger on the back of his hand! If you can believe me, I had nothing to do with that! Likely it was a small joke on the part of someone on the art team, though not meant to be seen by the player. The area is never visible in-game, and in fact most still frames contain only holes where the animated portions go.

After a little compositing, we have the finished result:

Great idea! I just decided give it a shot, but settled with simply moving the sprite off the bottom of the screen, as it only required changing a few bytes. Here is the patch for the AJ:AA ROM; you'll need an IPS patcher like LIPS to apply it.
Spoiler: 4-4
I disappeared the old courtroom stand as well.

Can I make a few suggestions for some things to be posted back up on the Rips page?

-Name thingies on the textbox
-The starting of Klavier's concert in 4-3
Can you think of any more?

The DS size benches.
The bg that shows when you press "move" during investigation.
The 4-2 doctor's report without Apollo's talk.

Here's a ZIP containing most of the backgrounds in the game, including those last two things (not sure what you meant by the first).

I'm not ready for a real big update yet, but for those of you interested in the GS4 rips, I've uploaded the ones I've fixed up so far, and you can browse them here:

http://www.court-records.net/animation/gs4/

Some still need to have their sweat pasted on their sweat poses (ewwww) and there may be a glitch or two... let me know if you find any that seem to have more than one pose on a single frame. There are a few zips in there too, of LeTouse, the Judge, Drew, Eldoon, Phoenix, Machi, Meekins, Payne, Plum, Shadi, Ema, Winfred and Wocky.

Also, does anyone know a way of combining animated gifs that work with the timing rather than the number of frames? It would really help with some of these.

Enjoy~
