Now that we've had a day to be all excited we've got some post event stuff to talk about.

First, Croik's done some house cleaning on CR. The Merchandise page has been redone and items have been added that were previously missing. However, we still don't have quite 100% of the merch logged. The Hobohat for instance has been taken off of e-capcom's site and we don't have any info on it. If you have any information on missing goods (Images, Cost, Release Date etc), or if we've got something that's inaccurate, please inform us.

Now, as for Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations, the game is reported as being 15 hours long. This is conjecture on my part, but if that's about as long as Apollo Justice, then we should be anticipating the standard 4 case routine.

Next, I've been reading the press releases that have been flying around. Edgeworth's game was announced at Captivate'09, a European event this year. As such, the Winter release window is specifically for PAL territories.
Quote:
Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Ace Attorney Investigations™: Miles Edgeworth is scheduled for release on Nintendo DS™ across PAL territories this winter.

North America's release date was conveniently left ambiguous. But, that doesn't particularly surprise me considering this is a European event.

I'm not going to spoil items for people who would rather not be spoiled, but if you were to carefully watch the English Trailer for AAI, then you'll notice a new potential murder weapon without any context.

Now, please excuse our housekeeping as we sort through all we've learned yesterday.

PAL territories

Winter

They've forgotten that it's winter here in Australia, and that we are also a PAL nation.

The bastards. Just think, I could have it in my hot little hands right now. :sob:

Oh, such laziness.
"Winter" usually means February (but never December)... seriously, it shouldn't take them 8-9 months to translate the game.

I hope for a US release sooner, and I'll import again, like I did with T&T.

:edgeworth: Hey, none of that. The GS series are beautifully localized. I would much rather wait and have the translations done right, then lazily done like a JRPG. If it takes them 8 months to do it right then it takes them 8 months to do it right. Something always bleeds when you cut corners.

Szabu you obviously don't have any idea what goes into these games. Translation takes long enough without the extra effort of a full localization (which makes a huge difference). And that doesn't even count programming the text back into the game matched up exactly with the Japanese text, changing character sprites and background images, not to mention the marketing effort once the game is finished. It's not just a matter of someone playing the game and translating as they go and shipping it straight to stores afterwards.

I work in manga translation. Even after I've sent in my work it's usually almost a full year before the book comes out in stores, and they don't contain nearly the amount of text of an AA game.

So cut them some slack, seriously!

Okay okay.

It's just that... it's been more than a year since we got the latest AA game, and it took a lot less (for GS1-3) to come out in English.
Of course, the game was already done so they released it in Japan when the English version was complete, but still, it was less than a year between the games.

Oh great, I have to cash out on an import... But still, good enough, at least it's not a rumor anymore.

Ooohh, I hope it comes out in time for Christmas.
And I hope it has a special pre-order box like in Japan.
But both these things are unlikely to happen :zenitora:

Nothing's been officially stated one way or the other on that. But if we were to look at just about every game released since now, that does appear to be the pattern.

Or a Lux-Pain. "The floor is a sea of blood and nothing at all is the same as it was." Haha.

I'm kind of gutted the game couldn't keep it's Perfect Prosecutor tag, but oh well, at least it looks like it'll retain PW charm.

clears my confusion, thanks! i live in a tropical country, so i don't really know when winter's coming.

counting from may, if it takes 6 months to translate the game then it'll be done in November.

And when was it ever officially called Perfect Prosecutor by people at Capcom? I seriously haven't seen a shred of evidence yet that anyone at Capcom has called it Perfect Prosecutor officially. :(

In any case, this is looking great! I'm glad to see this being officially announced~ My only slight gripe is the change in font; I kind of preferred the older font, and the new thinner, anti-aliased font kind of clashes with the the older font used for name tabs. Oh well. :yogi:

Ack... January, no, almost *February* of next year? I don't know if I can wait that long! :sal:

Though 8 months is better than 10... I wonder if they'll pull a Namco and release it a month or two ahead of schedule...without sacrificing the translation's quality too much. (Well, I can hope, anyway :sillytrucy: )

Very true. Games can be pushed back, and even rarer, moved up. I wouldn't bet on the latter though.

A new potential murder weapon without any context? Apart from the revolver?

I didn't notice. What could it be? (In spoilers obviously)

I believe it shows up in the top left corner when all of those logic terms are floating around.

Yes I did, but not in this topic. Remember, what goes in this board goes in the RSS feed for people who haven't been reading the forums. If they want to spoil themselves they have the opportunity to, or not to.
