Please be GS5, not some stupid Wii Version of GS1 which didn't really put any new innovations.

Well, GK's producer said it, but he mentioned the Gyakuten series as a whole (Saiban and Kenji), so there's still hope for GS5.
After all, if GS5 exists, it HAS to at least be mentioned in the 2010 Tokyo Game Show.

Or maybe it's more extravaganza, like the opera shows were. "Gyakuten Saiban: The Puppet Show"? An ANIME!?!?

We can only hope.

If we don't start the 4Kids discussion again, yeah, I agree.
But there's always subtitles, which can be better than dubs, sometimes.

Of course, GS5 is the first thing I would want next year from the Gyakuten factory. An anime would be in an instant second place. After that, I don't know. Everything beneath a rational radius has been done (with this I mean it won't go as far as a live-action movie, or a daily TV series, but who knows, we got an opera!), except anime. Manga, artbooks, 5 games, 3 of them in 4 platforms each (GS1 was in 5, if we include cell phones)... An anime would be the next logical step, and Japanese fans have stated that they really want it.

But yeah, my hopes are higher for GS5 than an anime. If they announce GS5 next year, I won't care about an anime, at least for some months after GS5 releases worldwide.

I absolutely agree. An anime would be a blast, but GS5 would be even better. Even if an anime would be really sweet, an actual continuation of the franchise is always more welcome.

I don't think they would release info about GS5 so soon, considering the States and European release of GK being in February. Maybe the info released was toward the end of the year, but they'd probably wait at least a few months.

Personally I would rather hear about an Anime than GS5. Because a new GS game will come anyway, but an Anime? That would be so awesome, and I wouldn't have to wait until it is released here.

Why not? We already heard about GK a few days after the American release of AJ.

Let's not start the whole dubs vs. subs debate, it's all just a matter of personal preference.

Regardless, this is good news. With such little mention of GS5 and the development of Ghost Trick it seemed that the future of the main series was in doubt.
Of course, it may be AAI 2, but the lower than expected Japanese sales may mean they're more eager to continue the main series.

Well, we are getting 5 Phoenix Wright titles in the first half of 2010 in the US. Yes, you heard right.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Original - January 2010 - 1000 Wii Points (900 in Japan)
Investigator Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney - February 2010 - 35$
Phoenix Wright: Justice For All - March 2010 - 1000 Wii Points (1200 in Japan)
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations - May 2010 - 1000 Wii Points (1200 in Japan)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Rise from the Ashes - May 2010 - 100 Wii Points (300 in Japan)

Wow, the US is going good with Ace Attorney releases. I'm getting the first one as an import already.

AJ released in America in February, too, but of 2008, and 2 months later, in April, GK was announced by Famitsu. It wouldn't surprise me if the same happens this time around. Not exactly in April, but 3 or 4 months after AAI releases would be a great time. Then, GS5 at TGS 2010 in September, like they did in 2006 with GS4, and in 2008 with GK.

NeoKitai, the only new and interesting game there is AAI, and you spelt it wrong. Also, it's unrelated, we are not talking about US releases of material that exists in Japan, we are talking about absolutely new material.

I agree with Regy on this.

But in the long run, an Anime (if done right) might prolong the longevity of the GS franchise, which results in more games. :p

So either one works.

Gyakuten Saiban is a Japanese game, first and foremost. As one would expect, they develop with the local audience in mind first, and the international market second. Remember the events involving TnT and AJ? Europe (if memory serves) and Japan got Apollo Justice, before the DS release of GS3. If Capcom Japan announces GS5 or whatever after the West's release of AAI, then it's out of courtesy to Capcom USA and Capcom Europe.

More realistically speaking, Capcom has two ways they like to announce titles, a bunch of titles at once at conventions like TGS, E3, and Captivate. Or via exclusives to Famitisu or other Japanese publications. If Capcom does it via exclusives, then they play a balancing game; they can't announce GS5 in the same week as something like Street Fighter 5, for instance. One announcement would eat the other and they loose money by over whelming the public's 'very' limited attention span.

I wouldn't even care about an anime if GS5 is announced, too. But, honestly, if they suddenly said they wouldn't make GS5, wouldn't an anime be one of the first things you would expect? Of course, as Ceres wrote, a decently-done one.7

@Croik: I don't think Capcom Japan will wait for AAI to release overseas to announce GS5, they probably don't have it ready enough for an announcement. Maybe GS5 will be pushed back by Ghost Trick, who knows. The point is I don't think they could announce GS5 before AAI releases, even if they wanted to.

But I agree with you on the rest. Those announcing methods aren't just Capcom's favourites, they are the most used announcing ways, at least to my knowledge. Magazines and events are the default ways off announcing big titles. Other means (Twitter, press releases, etc.) aren't used for titles the general public are expecting a lot, since it would be harder for them to find out.

No see I just don't really watch much anime. I mean, if they made a GS one and people subbed it I'd watch it to see what it's like, but there's a good chance I'd get tired of it and stop.

I will always therefore prefer and hope for more vidya games.

Oh, that's okay. I'm not that much of an anime fan, either, but if I, by any chance, get into one, I end up having to watch all of it. So I would probably watch a GS anime enthusiastically. Of course, if it's bad, I won't watch it anymore.

Well, this IS a video game series, after all.

I'm not so much interested in an anime (for a various reasons, 1) it may be awfully bad, 2) it may just be a copy-paste of the games, if that's the case, I'd rather have a new game :o, 3) it will be brilliant, but in that case, I'd much rather have the guys help developing the games :o), but hey, I would end up watching it anyway so... :eh?: Especially since this would undoubtly make the series more popular!

But I'm not sure about what Eshiro means here. Though, I'm pretty sure we'll hear from Capcom about GS5 this year (yet, I'
Spoiler:
m sure
hope the game won't get released before 2011 :p), I hope at E3... that would really be a nice way to make the series even more global...
I don't think it's AAi2 though... I think they'll wait to see how the game does outside Japan before making the decision to develop a new game.

Hurrah from more AA goodness =)

Nice drawing by the way...; thanks, Mr Eshiro :p

I wouldn't like an anime. First, I don't like AJ, and the last game they made was AJ - and I wouldn't want to see Phoenix as a Hobo with a child, without Maya and Pearls at his side. And even if they would start with Phoenix, not with Apollo, I don't think they could make an anime as good as the game.

I really hope it'll be GS5. And it'll be about Nick. And they won't wait too long. x)
I'm german.. so please forgive me mistakes etc. x)

Most likely to be GS5. The games is the main continuity for the franchise, I don't really mind if its an anime but I rather have the game.

Most likely to be 2011 for US/EU.

I would guess 2011 for Japan and 2012 for US/Europe.
If I recollect correctly for the last two games:

AJ
Official announcement 2006
Japan release 2007
US/EU release 2008

AAI
Official announcement 2008
Japan release 2009
US/EU release 2010

So for GK5 one would expect
Official announcement 2010
Japan release 2011
US/EU release 2012

Then what's the quote for?

If they announce GS5 in 2010, they probably won't have a release date, but a mere "2011", like with GS4 and GK. Announced the year before they release, released almost exactly an year after they are announced, and released in the US in February (UK dates change a lot.)

My guess is a Famitsu article in April or May announces either GS5 or GK2, if any of those is in developement.
