Hey, folks. Today, I was surfing GoNintendo, when I noticed that today's Nintendo Channel updates included not only an AAI Gameplay Trailer, but under DS Demos, a spanking new "Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS: Miles Edgeworth" (they capitalize INVESTIGATIONS for some reason) demo, playable on your DS RIGHT NOW!

I tried it out, and it's the same than the Flash Demo, but it ends just before Jacques Portsman's first Confrontation. And instead of a Main Menu (where you select "New Game" and "Load Game"), there's an image explaining the game's controls.

So, nothing new in this demo, just cleaner graphics, less content and DS playability. Enjoy!

By the way, according to the Nintendo Channel, distribution of the demo ends 2/7/2010.

P.S: You can download this demo if you live in the US or if you set your Wii's country to United States, even if you don't live there. Just a FYI.

Yeah, I played through it, even though I had already done the flash demo some time ago.

Can you say "laaaaame?" Don't see why they had to cut it short like that (short only compared to the flash demo, of course), but I guess it's their call.

There are some musical differences as well. The flash demo has original music for the murder scene, but the DS demo merely uses "Suspense." Also, the flash demo has original music playing right when the next scene opens following the murder, as well as when in Logic mode, but the DS demo lacks both of these. (Who cares about this junk? MEEEEE!)

Due to the "This trial version may differ from the final product" caveat, methinks they cut corners a bit with the DS demo, but with good reason, I suppose. They had already provided the flash demo, which was a much more involved affair.

Now that I recall correctly, they did the same with the Japanese release. The Flash Demo was like the US one, and the DS Demo was like the US one, too. And the final game was more like the Flash Demo than the DS Demo, with original music and all.

The difference between the versions probably also has something to do with the amount of RAM a DS has. I mean, you can download a huge flash file to your hard drive, no problem. But a DS (fat) probably doesn't have that much memory going for it, if you know what I mean.

My fucking ass.
Where's the United States option in Country on the Wii Settings, for Europe then? I know you don't live in Europe, but at least try your theories first. :yuusaku:

Personally, technical reasons or not, I enjoyed it when Capcom played that sort of switch-a-roo with GS4 and it's opening music. It made playing the DS version's intro more fresh, even if I had played it several times over.

I found it at first, and I'm doing that right now. I live in SOUTH AMERICA and I'm accessing the US Nintendo Channel with no problems. In country, I selected United States the first time, and it's been my "country" since then. I never had trouble finding that option.
Also, L~A posted some days back that it works on an European Wii too, I'm very sure of that.

The closest to America is 'South Africa'. That's it.

Nope.
Over here there's no option under "Country" for the United States, and in the Nintendo Channel over here AAI isn't even listed as existing.
You can't play the demo in Europe.

I played it and I found a few other oddities-

Have you looked at the graphics? Edgeworth's close-up is different that in the real AAI version and his sprites are assumed to be beta sprites as there are a few lines around his face that aren't in the final version, but in the pre-release pictures of Edgey standing behind Phoenix's office. Gumshoe, when angry, has a scar over his right eye, and has a few lines on his head which aren't in the final version. Jacques Portsman, in my opinion, is darker than in the rips.

Not to mention the music. Oh, and you can play the demo in Europe, but by the time you succseed, the full version will be out.

Just a FYI: The Demo's distribution was extended a week. Unless it's extended again, distribution ends February 14.

EDIT: Also, a bit bigger news: The demo is now available in the European Nintendo Channel. I assume it's the same demo than the American one, since it's the same game...

Playing the demo on he actual DS felt much shorter than the flash demo.

Then again, they didn't have the confrontation, that part was fun.
It's nice to see Gumshoe again, looking forward to that.

Just 4 more days, and then I can finally play the whole thing! :godot:

I played a bit of the DS demo and I'm not sure I like it... :( The gameplay just seemed too simple to me, I guess its just a demo though, maybe the full game wil be much better. I'm annoyed because I think I've spoiled myself (I really wanted the game for my birthday in 3 months time).

11 minutes flat and I was surprised at how much more content does AAI's first case have. Three times the logic, two times the duh.
